I was in a multiplayer game and the ships behaved strangely when traveling through hyperlanes. They would enter a system then leave through the lane they came through but end up in a different system all together, this caused a bit of frustration when at war because the Ai could basically go where it wanted without traveling through the systems first or fighting any of my fleets. It was the same for me and my friends' ships as well.

Being new to Console Edition Stellaris I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature.

I station my fleets as close as possible to system entry/exit points.

To clarify, building any space station with a subspace snare will alleviate this issue. As when ever a hostile fleet jumps into said systems it is brought automatically within the stations range. Keep your fleet within its range or split your fleets to efficiently eliminate hostile fleets.

I have both and from what I recall that's never been the case on pc. But it's easy to work around with defense stations with snare.

Having to fly across the system to go the specific hyperlane you want is a 2.0 thing. Ugh, catching enemy fleets pre 2.0 was a pain. Even worse with three types of FTL.
