I am a big fan of being able to tweak the scenarios around in Paradox games by changing the province allocation, growing or shrinking countries, moving them to new parts of the globe, etc., just experimenting and seeing how the game will play out when I've done these changes. Hearts of Iron 3 had the very nice console commands of 'changeowner' and 'changecontroller' but also had an unmercifully large number of provinces, making it very time-consuming for me to do this whether through console commands or modification of the save file.

After playing EU3 for a while as a variety of countres, I got to the point where I wanted to start experimenting like that again. With its far fewer provinces than HOI, it seemed like it would be much easier to play with, plus the game actually had an AI that could still manage the mess I'd make of the world. I ran into the problem, though, of the game not including simple commands like 'changeowner.' Unfortunately, any edits I made to the save file, as much as changing one province's owner and cores, would render my save games unplayable for an unknown reason.

I'd like to petition for the inclusion of "changeowner" and "changecore" commands in EUIV if they have not already been implemented. I know the typical player response on here seems to be "just shut up and edit your save file," but for whatever reason that did not work for me in EU3. Plus, it is vastly easier to play around with reassigning provinces when I actually have the game open and can see what I'm doing on the map. I know there were modders who put a lot of effort into making save game editors for EU3 that would include a map interface, but these tend to get out of date when the game is updated, and as a Mac player I didn't really have access to any of them. Having console commands to change a province's owner and add cores seems the simplest solution.
