Moscow falls in AI vs AI
Pearl Harbor falls in AI vs AI
United States attempted no island hopping or contesting Japanese fleet
Stalingrad falls in AI vs AI
Yugoslavia joins axis with no problem whatsoever
Allies losing South/Central Africa to italy

How is it possible for the allies to be this bad?

On the other end of the spectrum
Italy mainland getting dunked on by US and UK
Greece surviving until 1944!
Free France doing great at harassment

Huh, in my Japan game the Germans pushed a little bit but then got stopped by the USSR. The Allies landed in Yugoslavia and Italy, took 75% of Italy and then they landed in Normandy as well. I had no choice but to declare on USSR, which forced them to move troops to my side of the border and Germans started to win again. The allied forces have really improved from Man the guns update, they couldn't even manage a naval invasion before that. Now if they could properly manage supply and not over stack every single place with 100 troops the AI will improve by leaps and bounds. Hopefully in the next DLC it improves :).

Just curious, but is that the standard approach to fixing bad AI in HOI4 (AI fixes implemented in new DLC)?

Just a little surprised that HOI4's AI is still this bad 4 years after release. Even Civ 6's AI has been fixed for the most part now.
