So I'm playing a game as Austria (my first HRE game), and I'm going for a lot of PUs and perhaps a WC. I currently have Bohemia and Hungary, but I'm lining up for Poland and Castile/Spain as well. It's 1481, and next year I can take Roma and complete "Rein in Northern Italy". Then, it's turning my sights toward Burgundy, releasing princes, and taking provinces here and there in the empire to deal with future Centers of Reformation. My concern is that if everything goes the way I hope, I'll have a difficult time conquering east.

My plan was to revoke, use the vassal swarm, and feed princes so they snake across Asia. However, I'm concerned I'll be blocked from the ability to do this. Not only will most HRE members be blocked by the huge swath of Hungary and the Commonwealth, but will I even be able to core those provinces? As it stands right now, I can barely break out east through Ragusa, at least to fabricate claims before I have Deus Vult. I'll be able to break out into Africa and Asia through a long line of provinces, but is there any way to get my vassals there and/or to go more directly into Muscovy, etc.?

Bonus questions: How bad is it to spend 25 IA for a 5/4/4 female heir? How much trouble would I get into with a 3/5/5 weak-claim heir? It's early, and I have a couple of save points to change those decisions (since I have very little EU4 experience), or it wouldn't be a tremendous hassle to start over and fix a mistake or two I made.

If memory serves, you can fabricate on Dalmatia from Görs or Istria. You can then go Ragusa, Corfu, Greece, Anatolia, and wherever you want afterwards.

Also, if you have Cossacks, set a hostile attitude towards Tunis, Morocco, Russia, etc. Also Rival the Ottomans and whoever. Your subjects will then fabricate claims unless they've a diplomatic ruler, and (if you have Art of War) you can then use these claims to declare war and eat provinces yourself.

25 IA for a female heir is, rather unfortunately, a pretty heavy toll imo. IA authority is far harder to get than it used to be in the beginning.

A weak heir you can fix by using monarch mana if need be.

You can always go for England once you force the inheritance and just add British provinces, form England and re-add the provinces once more.

Honestly you can always no CB someone in North Africa if need be. PU-ing Poland mind be an issue if they didn't take a local noble as I don't think they can be PU'd if they formed a union with lithuania. If they did form a union then go nuts and eat them up.

I have all the DLC up to RoM, so I'll figure out how to do this stuff.

The 25 IA did seem to be pricey. I had a good heir, but he died at 12 through an event. Poland took the Jagellion or whatever it was which I believe is the route which allows you to PU the Commonwealth after they get an event around 1600. How do you fix a weak heir with mana?

You can always release new HRE members east of your PU's just make sure you add the land to to the HRE first

Good idea. I didn't think of that. Hopefully there are some cores that never go away?

Edit: I imagine you mean fixing a weak heir by increasing legitimacy with Strengthen Government

If you go into your own diplomacy screen, you can press "d" and get into a menu where you can click the provinces that you are interested in... They will turn red and then they will claim it, after a while at least... Then you can use that as your wargoal... You can always core a province next to your vassals core so that´s a solution if you want to expand yourself outside your vassal

Jagellion event forms the PU and elective monarchy (meaning you can't PU them), then when they reach admin tech 10 it's a one-button inheritance

And around 1600 they leave Elective Monarchy and if they have your dynasty at the time you can immediately PU them. That's what the post you quoted was referring to.
