Playing as Germany, I´ve surrounded 28 divisions in Moscow since winter 40-41. It´s something like May of 41 now.
They´re mostly infantry and militia, maybe a tank or two. Problem is, I can´t beat them. I´ve got 4 TACS and 4 CAS constantly bombing, the weather is clear and all the commanders of my about 40 infantry and mountaineer divisions that are attacking are fortress busters. Still doesn´t do the trick. They never seem to run out of supply, since Moscow is the capitol (strangely, their divisions in other areas also have supply). Any suggestions? I feel I could have gotten the bitter peace months ago, but the darn Moscow pocket won´t surrender... Sheisse!

The best solution imo would to let the troops out of Moscow, then take the city and destroy the out of supply troops.

The reason that the Soviets are still supplied even with their capitol surrounded is because they are supplied by Mongolia/Tannu Tuva.

I would recommend the clear terrain province to the south of Moscow. Let troops move out and then either attack Moscow or attack the divisions in that other province, defeat them and bomb them out of existence as they retreat back into the city.

Another tactic is to use logistical strikes to reduce infra in Moscow, then shift to interdiction a couple of days before attacking.

I take it you've got suitable leaders and are attacking from all adjacent provinces?? You can try an airborne assault to get yourself an extra attack vector. Another air wing would be handy as would inf w/art. brigades.

My 2 cents. I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Mike

The only way to capture Moskow under those conditions is to do what Onlyhestands & AOW sugested, Let the Russians break out of Moskow, cut them off and inhilate the buggers.

As soon as there is a low amount of Divisions in Moskow attack with one of your armies with the rest of the surrounding forces on Support attack.

I would also recommend that you keep in mind what Fried Egg said about a HQ in the vicinity to prevent overstacking.

I´ve got HQ, and probably a few more TACs and CASs to send to the battle... Thanks for all the suggestions! Probably easiest to beat them out in the clear. Though it would have been nice to finish 28 divs of at the same time... :)

Well keep the TAC inter missions up ( you should have 4x4 with an air marshal non stop) , and logistical bombing may help, but even better divide your attacks up into constant wave. Meaning have two different attack forces. While one attacks the other re-orgs, and so on, as long as the soviets never get a break you will grind them down. Even have a smaller third army on hand to keep the constant pounding up to allow the main battle groups some rest every few days.

The third army doesn't need to be too big, just large enough to occupy the Moscow troops for a day or so.

Moscow, and all of Russia for that matter is a matter of patience in certain points. Moscow is one of them. Just keep 'em busy night and day. One big force will often fail where three well organized shifts of troops will eventually break them down. Everyone needs to sleep. Even the Russians.....or so I've heard.
