Played on Armagedon, 1936 scenario. The goal? To conquer the USA, Europe and the Soviet Union as a Market Liberal Brazil. The means? Paratroopers. The rules? While I can build non-paratrooper ground troops for the early conquests, they are forbidden from leaving South America. No navy aside from transports (and convoys, and escorts). Full-IC takeover and tech team takeover. No alliances. Fog of war on. Democracies can declare war.

I haven't played HOI2 in a while, and never actually had any significant success... so when I crash and burn, and I probably will... I'll play until I'm annexed.

Stay tuned...

A tall order indeed sir! I'll keep on eye on this to see whether the mighty USA can prevail.

Good luck. The dissent from all the dow's will hurt you badly as a market liberal.

Before starting, I took a peak in the HOI2 wiki. I was hoping to use naval bombers to protect my transports, but it says that in Armaggedon they have been made incapable of detecting enemy fleets. I don't want to waste time researching naval bombing tech and building naval bombers if they are not going to be of any use without an offensive fleet (aside from what I start with, I have no intention of having warships). Can anyone tell me just how dependent on a fleet the naval bombers are? Can I send them to attack enemy ports with good results for example? I'm afraid I haven't played all that much with armaggedon.

I tried playing on hard and furious, but the IC penalty for hard is too massive for a minor power, and furious lead to Brazil being invaded by american troops in the first few months. So I decided that the goal itself was hard enough, and set the game to normal, normal.

Letter from President Vargas to the Minister of Security

"The revolution has been successful. The oligarchies no longer pose a threat to our plans. It is my hope that with calm in the country, people will go back to just doing their jobs and get the economy out of the state it is currently in. I have been hearing very disturbing rumors about Gaspar Dutra, but if I remove him from his position as Chief of Staff our movement will split in two and we'll face another civil war. We must find some other way to neutralize him before things get out of control."

Letter from the Minister of Security to President Vargas

"There are indeed very disturbing things happening. Some in the army are not happy with the results of our revolution, and are beginning to doubt that they did the right thing in overthrowing the old republic. Something must be done soon, or all our efforts could be undone by another rebellion. We rose to power by overthrowing the established order, and should never forget that the same could happen to us if we are not careful."

Letter from Gaspar Dutra to General Mascarenhas

"I have been ordered to send you to the south. You are to be taken there by sea, and Admiral Padilha will soon contact you to make arrangements. I do not know what Vargas has planned, as he is acting very strangely, almost paranoid. I have a bad feeling about this, but he is the leader of the revolution, so we must obey his orders."

President Vargas Addresses The Nation on Radio

"I have with me documents that prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that high officials in the the government of Uruguay were involved in the recent attempted coup by the bolsheviks. The government of Uruguay refused to arrest the persons involved. After much deliberation, I have come to the hard conclusion that we have only one choice in the matter. I have therefore ordered our troops to invade Uruguay. We cannot allow to let our neighbors be used as staging ground for attacks against our nation."

Note from General Mascarenhas to Captain Carlos

"We all know Vargas made up that story about Uruguay helping the socialists, but if we refuse to march, we will be labeled as traitors. We must do what is requested of us and hope that Dutra can help Vargas come to his senses before it's too late. He can't keep lying so blatantly."

"Note From the US Ambassador to The President of Brazil"

"We do not appreciate this aggressive attitude of yours. Do not think we will just sit by while you engulf the continent is war. You must stop now, or brazilian-american relations will be seriously harmed."

General Mascarenhas Radio Address

"I speak from Montevideo. It has been taken and there is no resistance left. The president of Uruguay is under arrest, and most other officials have left the country or been killed in the fighting. President Vargas has instructed me to end martial law as soon as possible and set up a civilian government, subject to the federation. I ask the people of Uruguay not to resist, we are prepared to use as much force as necessary to keep the peace."

Letter from an Anonymous Soldier

Mother, I have just received the order. We will begin marching to Ciudad del Este tomorrow. You probably heard it on the radio already, Vargas says they found more documents linking President Ayala to the Intentona, but I must say mother, I don't believe it. I hope I don't have to die because of this. Don't worry, I'm fine. I'll be fine too. God is watching over me.

Telegram from General Cordeiro to Chief of the Army Fontoura

"There is no point in moving along with the infantry. I have taken the liberty of moving with the cavalry ahead of them. The war will be over soon, no point in delaying its end just because the soldiers can't march as fast as the horses."

Yeah, lots of dissent... So you going for the entire South America or only the IC-resource rich provinces near your border?
