Connect Lima trade node to Mexican/Polynesian trade node

Wanted to try out colonial Kilwa with my main trade node bing the cape of good hope but was frustrated by the fact I couldn't get my peruvian gold despite my mexican Gold being completely fine.
If I'm already shipping it across the pacific from Mexico I don't see why Peru would bee too much more of a stretch

The Humboldt Current actually makes shipping from Peru quite challenging. Lima to Mexico would make more sense for a connection.

i thought the humboldt current goes east to west from peru/chile towards australia, thus technically boosting ship speeds? Or was that a seasonal phenomenon

You’re thinking of El Niño/La Niña, which is an unpredictable atmospheric-oceanic phenomenon and therefore has little impact on shipping. As Google could’ve told you in a split second the Humboldt current runs north along the South American coast, making trips westward very challenging.
