Confused about AI rights update in 1.5.1

So, started a Materialist/ Warlike game in 1.5, got to Synths... and ran into issues with their rights. Giving them the rights of "Full citizens" did NOT give them the rights of full citizens. They are still at a lower "level" (forget the exact term, you can see it great in the screenshot in this thread, which I also posted in. https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...esnt-actually-unlocks-rights-for-ais.1012515/

Then, I saw this line in the 1.5.1 update:

I figured that meant that they were fixing it, so it worked....... but will this retroactively work in my 1.5 Ironman game that i started (I have checked, it hasn't, but is it supposed to)? Or do I need to start a 1.5.1 game? Or does this line not even mean that the issue is fixed, and it actually means something else, and I shouldn't bother with robots at all until another patch comes out?
