Hello,

recently I got CK II with all DLCs and expansions from gamersgate when everything was 75% off (for 23$ CAD, I got everything, yeehaw).

What a wonderful game!

Being an EU and CK1 veteran, I really love this game.

I patched to 1.8 and after a few plays, started a game as Byzantium, in 1066 as the Doukas Emperor.

The problem is, I created a Kingdom (the Greek crown), and then automatically my oldest son became the heir to that throne. But my Empire heir is the first one that was born in purple, so I have an empire heir who inherits all and another , older, heir who inherits everyhting in the Greek Kingdom.

When my ruler died, a major bug and crash came. All provinces who were De Jure in the Greek Kingdom became black with 'No Owner' on them. So neither my eldest son, neither my emperor inherited those (those provinces are conflictual as they are De Jure in the Kingdom of Greece and in the Byzantium Empire). After that, the game crashed on me.

I had to reload as my initial emperor and destroy the title completely (the kingdom of Greece).

I also noticed that, as an emperor I can change the laws, but can't change the Kingdom Of Greece succession law so I could not assign this crown to the same heir.

Thank you! :)

I'll load up and try to reproduce this in 1066, as if it's a crash relating to what you say then it is very serious indeed.

Here it is! The latest game save before it crashed.

It is a very special situation where my main character gives his emperor title to his 'born in purple' son and gives his kingdom of greece crown to his actual firstborn.

But the firstborn died in a crisis years ago, so it fall upon his son to inherit but I imprisoned him :p

So when good ol' Basileus dies, the provinces of the Greek Kingdom don't have owners anymore because of the conflictual situation... I think!

I actually ran into a similar situation as the Byzantine Emperor. I had Agnatic-Cognatic Primogeniture and my first born son was successor in both the Byzantine Empire and the Kingdom of Greece. I had a few daughters who I matrilineally married to other characters to try to create different lines of characters from my dynasty that were specialized in different areas. I have all of the DLCs and used the Ruler Editor to create my own genius character. Eventually, my succession changed from the first son to a great grandson who would have been born while my character was Emperor. He was descended matrilineally from my third daughter who had died and her son who was a Duke in the Byzantine Emperor. Interestingly enough, as the Duke [Emperor's grandson] had another child this child became second in line and when the Duke's brother also a Duke in the Empire had a son this son became third in line. The original first born son of the Emperor had no son's at the time but I found all of this to be somewhat odd. None of the son's of my two Duke's [Both Dukes' where grandsons' of the Emperor] had the trait Born in the Purple since they were born after the Duke's were given their Dukedoms and the daughter [Duke's mother] was also not born in the purple.

All of this seemed odd but when the Emperor finally died the map went crazy and the Kingdom of Greece disappeared. All of my provinces directly owned by the Emperor in the Kingdom of Greece now where grey like the Desert areas and said "No Character" on the tool tip and would not come up when clicked on but I can still see the Byzantine shield of the cities, castles, and churches. The islands that were Counts or Dukes are now all free and even the baron level cities are free from their previous counts. I keep having problems trying to upload the screenshot or I would.

I also found that when I give the Emperor's oldest son a Dukedom [He was landless before so I could control his heirs better] and then use the console to kill the Emperor in testing that the son keeps the other Dukedom and Kingdom of Greece title but the actual provinces of the Kingdom of Greece go to the new Emperor.

If any of this is confusing, let me know and hopefully I can try to explain the problem and circumstances more clearly.
