Look at the battle record. Irish won the vast majority of the battles they fought against Vikings. Vikings had initial military advantage due to superior weaponry and shipbuilding, but it was quickly negated. The conquest of kingdoms and vast tracts of territory the vikings were able to complete elsewhere, simply did not happen in Ireland.
Dissappointed a bit for a while... I hope they gonna get the other stuff done soon.
A nice bit of flavour would be allowing Irish rulers to drown Viking prisoners in streams. I think it was originally a Viking custom, but the Irish liked the irony of drowning the warriors vomited forth from the sea. In the same respect, it is said in Cogadh Gaedhel re Gallaibh that as her father's army was driving the routed Norse/Leinsterian army towards the Tolka river, to meet their watery grave, Brian Ború's daughter remarked to her husband Sitriucc (leader of the Norse armies): "It seems to me," she said, "that the foreigners have gained their patrimony. They are going to the sea, their natural inheritance."
Drowning captured enemies in the rivers was a form of a ritual sacrifice in Slavic lands in pagan times, since rivers were especially venerated here.
