I have a simple idea that I think many people would appreciate. I propose that a new page be added to the statistics folder to show the losses due to warfare. I would like for it to show manpower loss, and for it to somehow show the IC lost due to IC needed for Reinforcements. The page could act like the Army division count page, where it only shows your country and your allies unless you use the nofog cheat.

The more detailed that this could be made the better. For example, perhaps the manpower losses could be divided up by the source of the loss. Then when you go to check it, you could see that you are loosing a large amount of men to ground attack by aircraft. To lower casualties then, you would want to build more fighters or interceptors.

This wouldn't affect the micromanagement of the game because it is just extra information that the player doesn't have to look at. But this would be a very usefull tool to AAR writers, and would help you figure out proper strategies.

What do you guys think?

I think that a similar thread has been locked already and I hope this one won't meet a similar end. I don't want to pick that same direction, but since there are many people supporting such a feature, I hope this can be fairly discussed without entering certain risky topics.

Since it looks like that Strenght will be in HoI3, and it's no longer a percentage value - or so it seems - I would support a military casualties overview, keeping track of my and my allies' losses. It should be simple enough to model it.

Also, I would add by whom such casualties are inflicted in a separate column for each country. As Germany, for example, I'd like to know how many troops I lost against Soviet Union, France or the United Kingdom.

If listing casualties inflicted by 250 countries is a bit too much, then I'd settle for listing the total casualties inflicted by an alliance, f.e. German casualties inflicted by the Comintern, the Allies, or Unaligned.

It could get very complex, especially considering the hospital techs and trickleback, if such a thing will be retained from HoI2. It would be interesting to see, to measure relative success and failure in a campaign on the basis of casualties. If it is not included though, I'm certain that the str losses can be easily recorded with the (to be) updated mp statistics excel file program.

Yeah. We need casualty numbers. I would much rather be able to use my spies to tell me "They have approx. 124,000 infantry", then to compare deaths/wounded after a battle to that number to understand how effective an attack was.

We, as warmongers, need to know how much death we are inflicting.

I always liked that in EU2 you could look at the casualty screen to see how many men you had lost from combat, attrition and disbanding. It may ahve even showed casualties inflicted though I"m not sure about that. I remember end game it would be in the hundreds of thousands if not more.

That's grotesque and morbid.
Several of my family members would be amongst those abstract numbers, there's no need for them whatsoever.
And if you measure success in terms of number of enemies killed, you're a very bad general.

I has family members in WW2 also, however, luckily none of them had died. I didn't even want to know enemy losses. Honestly, I just want to know how many men my actions kill or wound for AAR purposes.

This game already simulates causalities, I do not see it as morbid or grotesque to simply tally them up. Afterall, this was already in EU2 and no one fussed about it to my knowledge.

You don't regard it as "morbid" or "grotesque" to keep a body count of the number of people you've killed? Sounds like something a pyschopath would do to me.
I know EU2 had it, but since EU2 games were never historical, it was essentially all abstract. However, the HOI series generally see much more historical games.
