Even though the thread has been locked, I feel I want to add a few thoughts of my own.
- We are eternally grateful for having such a great fan base and modding community. You are all an enormous part of what makes our games great, and we would never have made it to where we are without you guys. I'm sad to hear that there might be people out there who doesn't know that this is how we feel and I suppose it's my fault as my role as Community Manager involves making sure you know this.
- In an effort to assist our modding community more we moved Captain Gars to a role that is entirely focused on improving modability in all our games. Search for his posts if you want to learn more about his efforts.
- Many of the people employed by Paradox started out in the community as modders or active in other ways. Wiz, ForzaA and Besuchov, to name a few, all started out here in these very forums and are now influential members of our team. Maybe this can be seen as a carrot and possible reward for some of you?
- Giving credits to individual modders can be a can of worms with lots of complications involved. Let's say we started doing that and we gave modder X credits for feature Y, and modder A credits for feature B while modder C made a feature we didn't notice. That feature however, happens to be very similar to feature D that we implemented because of the "great minds think alike" principle. Should we then credit modder C despite the fact that even though his idea was great, he didn't actually have anything to do with feature D? Also, shouldn't every single forumite who contributed with an idea that was later implemented also deserve an individual credit as well? As you can see, it would quickly turn into a major work task that would take resources away from actually making games.
TL;DR We are extremely grateful for everything that you, our community, is giving us. We try to give you all collective credits at every opportunity. Giving individual credits for everything is not something that would be sustainable in the long run. And if you feel that you don't want to continue contributing under these circumstances, then I can only thank you for all you've brought us in the past and regretfully admit that we can't give you what you want.
