When I played I had per child an alert for the 2 types of child focusses but not one for still not being assigned to a guardian.

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
Children do not require guardians, they are actually educated by the court and can be assigned if you desire. Guardians have no impact on trait gain until after the age of 12 where you pick their education focus. So if you want to assign a guardian to ensure particular traits from childhood traits, it is best to actually assign them here.
The assign guardian option is no longer valid with conclave. This was discussed in one of the dev diaries before release.
