I was playing a game as Byzantine Emperor witch Charlemagne DLC enable, before to buy and active Conclave.
As you probably know this mean that I was able to grant Kingdom and Duchy viceroyalties to my vassals even if I had not the proper tecnology level AND that my two principal duchies and related counties passed to my porphirogenitus heir and not splitted between him and his brothers.
These was the peculiar characteristics of Byzantine Empire. Was...
Now, with Conclave enabled, Byzantine Empire is become a normal and uncharacteristic Dispotic Gavelkind (ugh!) Empire. I'm going to lose one of my duchies (it will be inerithed by my second son) and I'm 4 tecnological steps away from the possibility ti assign duchy viceroyalties again (and before that time I will be forced to assign all of them as Landed Titles to my vassals

At first, I thought was a general choose of design bt PDS. I started a new game wit Byzantine Empire and Conclave disabled and found that, without the DLC, Byzantine Empire has still its peculiar characteristics as the inerithance of the duchies by the heir and the possibility to grant all kinds of viceroyalties!
So, my question is: why reduce BE to a common feudal empire (and a gavelkind one!), losing is flavour and his particular gameplay, with the Conclave enabled?
