Hey everyone,
So some of you may or may not be aware from Discord that I've stepped back from EK and modding PDS games in general. I won't be around much here anymore either and I'll be shortly throwing in the towel on being a Demi-Mod around here too; I'll be directing my focus entirely on my studies from here on out (amazing that a 31 year old can still get a placement at Uni with 3 kids
) and everything PDS is just too much of a distraction; their games are just too damn good.
What does this mean for the SVN?
Unfortunately it means I'll no longer be able to continue hosting it on my server; with my ADHD the repository and mod itself are too much of an easy distraction and instead of doing the prep work I intend to do, I end up working on the mod. As a result the SVN is going to be shutting down at the end of March (31st). The team is aware of this and are looking into alternatives. On the 31st of March the SVN will no longer be available, instead an archive of the latest revision will be available for download from the Elder Kings website for a time. The website and domain won't be going anywhere as they're not something that needs constant work (I also have the domain registered to myself and will be keeping it
).
What about permissions such as portraits and so on?
I have never claimed ownership of the mod nor it's assets; Portraits have always been the property of @saffronmar and any permissions lay with him, likewise with the vast majority of our custom event pictures are also his. If you wish to use any of those you'll need his permission as it's always been.
Flags, interface, artifact, traits etc that are -currently- in the mod as of this posting are for the most part by myself or were contributed to the mod on the understanding the team was granted rights over them. For my part, it has always been the case that others may use those assets so long as they credit EK; it's up to the team if they wish to continue that.
Who runs the mod now?
That's up to the team to decide. @Colossal_Elk, Evelyn and @Amauri are the prime movers in the modification at the moment, and Colossal_Elk is able to field most any question you'd have on the modification; over the past couple of years he's gone from knowing barely anything at all when it comes to modding to being in my opinion one of the most proficient and productive modders in the CK2 community today.
It's been great these past years working on the mod, a lot of blood, sweat and tears has gone in to it for my part (not to mention money, don't tell my wife) and it's been an awesome experience; my experience with EK is directly responsible for pushing me (along with finally getting my ADHD managed) to get around to returning to Uni with a view to obtaining a Masters and I've loved (almost) every minute of working on the project. I've met many amazing people, made a few friends and riled a few jimmies in my time and to those people I wish no ill will. CK2 is a great game and this community is one of the most creative and diverse I've ever encountered in my 23 years of online gaming and modding; you're all overly opinionated, stubborn SOBs and I wouldn't change a single one of you.
See you around, and fly safe o7.
