Will Paradox EVER do anything with the actual Crusades in CK2?

I mean, in real life the 1st Crusade was a mishmash of European nobles, priests, peasants, common folks etc. The Kingdom of Jerusalem was given to one of the nobles and was ruled as an independent kingdom. In CK2 the title is given to whoever contributes the most, turning into silly scenarios like a dual monarchy of England + Jerusalem for instance. This triggers me quite a lot.

Even the journey to Jerusalem is literally just
1. Drag box armies
2. Merge armies
3. Either walk them through Europe OR put them on ships
4. No events or anything, literally just put the game speed to max
5. You are now crusading

It's actually quite dull.

I'd absolutely love for the Crusades to be fleshed out!

I'd like to see events, event troops, looting, and the title distribution system reworked.

That's literally every single war in the game tho.
Sure events would be cool, in fact, it is the only thing that could be added into the crusades imho, probably adjusting title distribution as mentioned above.

See, is not that I am in love with the system. I guess it works somewhat, but I spend my time doing other stuff. Honestly, just making another "rework" thread means little :/ I mean gather some notes and put them on the suggestion subforum.

Deus Vult came out for the original Crusader Kings, and nobody complained that a game called as such is getting an expansion about Crusades.
I would very much like to see such an expansion for CK2.

A flavour event chain DLC that would include loads of crusade related flavour events I'd appreciate. Also, I'd like if the crusades wouldn't feel like just another war (albeit a war you don't need to win, just participate to get the trait, and not give a shit about the outcome), crusaes need to feel important enough for you to want to partcipate and want to win.

Actually that made me think of something: merging the pilgrimage mechanics with Crusades! When a Crusade starts and a ruler decides to join, they could get the Crusader trait similar to "on pilgrimage" or "on Hajj" which places the realm under a regency, increases death chance even when not leading troops (as it is presumed that the leader is with the army even when not leading) but also opens crusade-specific event chains. Should the crusade fail or be won the Crusader trait changes to Crusade Veteran. The character might also be allowed to return early from the Crusade via decision but at a prestiege hit and no Veteran trait.

What do you guys think?

Something like this, along with combat improvements, would probably add a lot to the crusade aspect

Combine that with some nice mechanics and events and you've got the recipe for "Crusaders Vult" the best DLC since WoL.

So, you'll be knocking up some Levantine Christian women on the way?
Oh, definitely, returning home from the Crusades with a bastard child that has your culture but a 50-50 chance of using the Levnatine facepack sounds like fun :D Making Friends with your enemies (out of mutual respect from the battlefield), avoiding the Hashashin, finding tolerance (or hatred) to other religions, learning new customs (underwear makes its debut in Europe!), and perhaps giving you and the Venetians a CB on a certain Orthodox Empire in the East all sound like fun activities while on a "military pilgrimage" :D

I'd support this, and also re-working the first Crusade/Crusades in general. Since the Crusades occupied other principalities and carved out their own realms before even getting to Jerusalem.

And hopefully a Crusades DLC would fix the lack of Latin Patriarchates, and how the crusader states even function
