Computer for CKII

Hey everyone,

I apologize for using this forum to ask for help about a computer. I am hoping someone can help identify if my laptop I will be receiving soon will be able to run Crusader Kings II. I know your thinking, a laptop? That is clearly not a very reliable source to game on. Well, Its all ill have once I receive it. My destop is a very old Dell computer with windows XP. Very outdated.

Now, The laptop I am receiving is a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Which model it is? I have seen it very briefly this morning. My friend still needs to clean it out. But I did however see the numbers 650 on it. I researched which one it could possibly be. I came up with the C650 and the L650. For the sake of an answer, lets just say its both a C650 and a L650. So id like two answers. I am unsure which one it was exactly. Hopefully somebody can help me and tell me if this laptop will be able to run CKII. Even if it does, can it run on very low graphics at the very least? I have been a very big fan of the game for years and hopefully i will finally be able to play it. But in terms of specs the best I can provide with right now is a Toshiba Satellite either C650 or L650. Can this laptop run it?

It is neither of the two named computers. It is a Toshiba Satellite 654D, is there still a chance of being able to play the game?

So from the tincy bit of research I did, both meet minimum specs to run the game from the store. However the L650 will run it better than the C650, I think. (Mostly do to the i5 core versus i3. and a few other things.) Hope I helped

I played on a lackluster machine, and it worked fine, but I didn't own many expansions at the time, so you should be very playable, but that really depends on how many of the expansions, and which machine you actually have.

This makes me very happy! I only plan to buy the Old Gods DLC and maybe the ruler creator one not very many unless you have a suggestion. Lets say its a C650 how difficult would it be to play? Such as speed? Should it be on low graphics in order to have an optimum amount? I am unsure of which one it is. It was purchased around 2011 if that means anything.

I don't think you can change the graphics (650 hours in game, so that's kind embarrassing) but I know you can turn off trees and some stuff (never personally have)

Speeds are set at a distinct pace so it can go as fast as you need/want. this does change with Speed 5 which is the maximum your computer can handle, and why I never play on speed 5 anymore...

(I personally suggest over time getting them all when they go on sale) but Old gods is my favorite.

C650 probably speed 5 will be slightly faster than speed 4 therefor manageable unlike my speed 5.

So no matter what model 650 laptop I receive, it will run this game? Smooth like? minor lag? It is playable? Even if I begin to purchase some hefty DLC? I am trying to make sure it is a sure thing this game will run and be playable. So I dont have to be very disappointed once I spend the money for it and then come to find out it doesnt work. Ths happened with Medieval 2 Total War and sits on my amazon library until this day never being played.

So it will in fact run and be playable? I appreciate your help alot because ive wanted to play this game a very, very long time and it might come true. I really hope your right that it will work nicely

Yes it'll run it, possible minor lag, but smooth otherwise; however if you get the c650 I would warn against getting Rajas of India, unless the game is working perfectly beforehand. RoI doubles the size of the map and characters so the game becomes twice as hefty

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help. I am very excited to play the game! I am very excited to finally have a workable computer that can play this game. So I assume if CK2 works on the laptop, EU4 and EU3 will also be playable?

My comp has very run of the mill graphics and processors and is probably one of the cheapest they sell (Asus something or other) and CK2 with all of the expansions runs pretty great. Takes a minute or so to load the game and 20 seconds to load the map and don't run into any lag at all. Even running top speed

Well this is a Toshiba Sattelite, either a C650 or L650. I should be alright? King Sweden above says I will be alright.

Those are better than what I'm playing it on so I would say yes as well.

That laptop's core and apparent ram are lower then the minimum suggested specs so I don't know....sorry

Oh no this is a real bummer... So even at a 0.1 number it will have an issue? This sucks actually. I guess theres only one way to find out...

actually ghz is kind important but not necessary everything, just compared the processor recommended (minimum) versus yours, and it's almost the distance between my processor and yours. So you are absolutely good, have fun
