I will rework this post after the patch, stay tuned

Greetings everyone,

a few people had the idea to try to collect all the wishes and suggestions into an organized list and I decided to try it. I hope you support this endeavor and reply with your suggestions and wishes.

Let's try to agree on a few rules:
- Please only post your suggestion in this thread, I think we should keep this thread clean and move the discussion about the suggestions to their respective threads.
- If your suggestion has it's own discussion already, post the link and I will add it to the list.
- Please try to sort your suggestion into one of the existing categories or suggest a new category for the list.
- I would like suggestions about the best way to permanently collect support for the various suggestions and wishes.

Edit: There is also this Idea Box page, if that is the preferred way to gather ideas for the community, I suggest to use it: http://citiesskylines.ideascale.com/

I suggest disabling intersection destinations when the angle between the source and the destination is too narrow. Most useful to avoid u-turns in merges.

I really would like to have:
One-Way - One-Lane Roads. Even the existing 2 Lane One-Way Road would be nice, with one Lane be reserved for Parking. I live in a European City with many Roads like that and it would be nice to be able to build something similar :)

More ideas:

1) To go along with the idea of the el-train and everything related to that, I'd like to see an option to lay track above an existing street, with pillars that straddle the width of the street, regardless of the street width.

2) a handful of parking garages, at least 4x4, preferably in varying sizes like 4x8, 8x8, etc... You find parking garages in every city. They're so common, but they're entirely absent from the game except for a couple of workshop assets. We need to see a parking garage collection released, containing garages with working parking spaces.

I made a start on a collection of car parking with a selection of workshop creations. Some good, some not so good & by no means extensive. http://steamcommunity.com/id/ninkydog/myworkshopfiles/?section=collections&appid=255710
Thanks for the list. There was one parking garage on there I'd never seen before. I grabbed it and I'll check it out. As for regular flat parking lots, I've got those well covered. I've created a lot of custom parking lots of my own and gotten rid of all the workshop ones I've found. I have a few all-purpose ones that can work in a variety of places, along with some custom ones that were made bespoke for a particular place or to be paired with a particular building.

I've studied a bunch of real parking lots in photos and on Google maps to try to create lots as much like real ones as I can with the tools available.

Yeah, that's what I think I'll do as well - so many of the workshop ones are too pretty, filled with junk or just don't fit aesthetically. I've yet to create assets so will have to do research into this.

Glad the list was helpful.

Moved it here:
Edit: I know most if not all of this have been mentioned before. But here are some pictures to go with it.. :)
- -

I made these pictures to show some of the current road/rail features that i think needs to be added, made different or more dynamic.
This would make it possible to make much more realistic and creative city layouts!

Generally i think most of the angles and limits when placing road/rail needs some tweaking. I know it's a game and it would be way over the top to have 10,000 different road types and such.. But right now there are way too few possibilities when trying to make creative or realistic road layouts. This is stuff for a great 'Advanced Asphalt DLC' hehe.

Also more smooth highway connections so it is possible to make good looking junctions :)

This one below is a suggestion to the tunnel tool. A Sunken road or open 'tunnel'. a little cheaper than building a tunnel and with more sunlight. This would be cool making underpasses or compact city infrastructure.

Wgw8vFZ.png

This is a illustration of the way i really would love to place metro stations in the game.
It would make it feel much more free!

H4XmOIG.gif

Not to forget that ground level and elevated metro also would be useful especially when crossing rivers or in hilly terrain. And it would to some extend also be cool to have something like this for regular railways both above and below ground.

Hope you guys find these ideas just as interesting as i do!! Cities: Skylines is already and amazing game, but it has potential to be so much better in the future!!

Thanks,
Buddaklovn

--Large industrial warehouse buildings - this is what 'industry' is in most developed cities. It can be either warehouse space, or 'clean(ish)' industry (from a welding shop to making semiconductors).

300px-Tilt_slab_finished.jpg

--A VERY wide 'Small Road' that can be upgraded to a Medium or Large road without needing to demolish the buildings placed along it. I love how you can upgrade from Medium to Large roads without changing the total width, but it would be a home run to have a Small road option with the same width.

--A larger assortment of large buildings (malls, very large stores, museums, sport fields, etc.) that were not the single-use 'Unique' buildings.

Yeah, absolutely spot on. Warehouses & intermediate commerce - service industry needs representation as well.

Yup, distribution centres everywhere.

You can find industrial parks all over that don't have a hundred smokestacks chugging black smoke out into the sky. That's why I suggested another class of RCI as 'light industry' or something to that effect. Industry that doesn't generate much noise or pollute the ground.

Industry is already underrepresented in terms of number of buildings models. And considering that the game often wants you to build a city's worth of industry, that's a shame because there are a thousand of the same building everywhere.

There needs to be a bunch of new building models added, along with the new RCI class and models to go with that.

And most importantly, warehouses. Lots of warehouses.

Emergency vehicle AI should make them completely ignore other vehicles when in emergency mode (sirens on) and pass through them. And ignore red traffic lights too.
