  • Europa Universalis IV: Common Sense

Ow, emm I'm sorry I didn't know that, I will change it.

Can I ask why I can't use it?

bankrupcy takes 5 years, ally every neighbor that could declare on you, spend all your powers and go bankrupt before the ottoman truce is over (assuming its longer than 5 years), focus mil because next to the ottos you cant get behind on tech. By allying you force truces after bankrupting, so they wont be able to attack.

You could declare a war bringing your allies in and dont peace for 5 years (dont fight battles either, your bankrupt troops are trash ), but I bet they may decide to dishonor defensive calls so youll be screwed anyway

Once you declare bankruptcy, it's pretty much game over for all intents and purposes. You may survive, but you'd have wasted so much time on doing absolutely nothing that your game is ruined. Unless you're dedicated to finishing that game, it's just a matter of protecting yourself by relying on others and waiting it out.

Going bankrupt after a successful Byzantium start is fine, in fact it can be a legitimate strategy. It gets rid of all your loans, some inflation and the effects only last for five years. If your truce with the Ottos is still up for that long, you're in a pretty decent spot.

Though it sounds like you're already bankrupt, it's better to plan the bankruptcy so you can spend all your mana and maybe go to 3 stab to avoid issues from being at negative stab without admin points. But yeah, waiting for five years right after an important early war where you made big gains is no big deal, just have truces with any dangerous neighbours and/or good allies who will stay allied even during the bankruptcy.

That's because it serves a particular purpose, in every other case, you wouldn't really want to declare bankruptcy, so it has no strategic use to you and it probably wouldn't happen as early as you want it to. But yeah, I guess there's always some exception to every rule.
