And just in case a Decadent Hierarchy is called for as a change of pace:

Frail, cowardly, and generally unpleasant, the Vogomi are instinctive suck-ups and flatterers, pitifully serving those they fear (whether alien or fellow Vogomi) while gleefully abusing those they think they can take advantage of. They are also found virtually anywhere, making them among the most adaptable pests in the galaxy -- and indeed, despite their sentience, they are best categorized as pests.

I had work on a couple of races/species.

they are currently mod only, I do like that they go official where I can play iron mode with them.

this is the link.

http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=685617064

the mod is based of 1.0.* version of the game( portrait selector are based on the old structure)

I do have a 1.1.* version of the game(tidy up version, that is currenty not uploaded whilst the beta)

I had upload all of them files in this post, if permitted making it official instead of continued as a mod. The mods in workshop are also updated as of 1.1 Clarke now.

it consist of 5(6) species in total,

1) Confederate of the suns(variant, Administratrion of Enim),
1.A) It came with a modded home system(which can be opt to revert to go for "random", if balancing had became an issue, thou I do like to keep it.)
1.B) and a heavily modified portrait selector(based of the human portrait selector, I do like to keep this option since it is had been scripted into the biography(speciography?!) of the species)

1.1) Confederate of the suns

Confederate of the suns Bio:
"Originally earthlings facing embroiling situation of an inevitable resource war of 2050s. Rises a group of glamour-seeking people that formed a glamour-seeking organisation that aims to escape earth with the fading of fashion senses.
Their answer was to "hijacked a trip to Planet Octo of Enim System".
While hijacked trip was cut short by a disastrous electro magnetic "stirrup" which turned earth back to the dark ages.
Save for the million led by the plastic surgeon and made it to Octo. Shortly after their arrival to Octo, They sorted new world resolution were settled to be attention seeking as top priority in politics. To avoid ensuing anarchy, a process of conformist facial reconstruction were made mandatory for the leadership, this was later spared optional for male leadership candidates or that of uncertain species.
Fast forwarding to 2200, these readily claimed Enim again seeks a different level of attention this time, the glamour of the stars."

Unique Starting Message:
"Barely 150 years had passed since the great escapade via the now unfashionable portal, with barely a million of survivors survive in the crossing to Octo. They are however uninspired by the new found earth like paradise.
The early years were lavishly easy. Farming were less than challenging as the seasons alternate between only spring and autumn, topping that the ruinous technological wrecks scattered in the wake of the portal incident did give enough material to build the first few climatized cities. In the later decades however the weather and season took for the worse and desertification occurs, but climatized dome cities negate those worries. Plastics surgery and fashion flourishes even further.
Marking the 15th decade with the completion of their first 1:1 scaled model spaceships they finally can achieve their dream of spreading of their glamour!"

1.2) Administratrion of Enim Bio:

"Originally earthlings facing embroiling situation of an inevitable resource war of 2050s. Rises a group of "unanswered" intellectuals that formed an elitist organisation that aims to escape their fate.
Their answer was to build a portal and escape earth.
However, their mission ended in disaster, an electro-magnetic tear occurred during the portal transfer, transforming the earth back to the dark ages.
Whilst many of those leading didn't made it to Octo. Resulting the remaining few later adopting to radical resolutions of cloning, which they effectively clones all the leaders under a single template strain. Unfortunately, their efforts only produces viable female candidates, as male candidates perished shortly.
Fast forwarding to 2200, these elitists now claimed "Enim" again set their eye upon new science, and an appetite for the stars."

Unique Starting Message:
"Barely 150 years had passed since the great escape via the now defunct portal, with barely an-eighth of million of survivors survive in the crossing to Octo. Only reluctantly discovers it was nothing they had envisioned, but endless tundra wasteland.
The striving years were certainly hellish. Waters were scarce, farming were challenging, fortunately ruinous technological wrecks scattered in the wake of the portal incident did give enough material to build the first few cities. In the later decades the leadership echelons were yet again face another challenge, they were dying amass replacement was scarce, cloning become a radical solution. With last few decades of cloning to aided the repopulation, everything is finally work out for the better.
Marking the 15th decade with the completion of their space-based portal station they finally can set forth for the stars!"

Consolidated Melanga Broods Bio:
"Native to the arid Melanga revolving the Canopus system, having evolve from giant sandworms. They shared commons traits of being aggressive, but are flawed with inadaptability and slow breeding. However unlike their distant ancestors they are rather small in physique. These cumulated to often despotic historical records earlier in their history.
Undaunted by their genetic flaws, modern melangans however overcame these by developing a monastic society, these ultimately paid off as they founded the secert to longevity.
With the recent uncovering of the great expanse of a hyperlane system, the melangan begin to wonder..."

Mycelium Teddies Collective Bio:
"Mycelium.T or Mycelium Teddies were originally a strain of sentient fungoid found on Mycelia.
Upon discovery they were forcefully administered upon the original inhaibitants of Mycelia(then Tedworld), while unintentionally robbing and replacing their sentience in the process.
Coupled with their unintended host weak physique was their parasitic nature which makes them both extremely adaptive and xenophilic to any race they encountered, which is unfortunate as the same affection wasn't often well reciprocated, whilst upon acknowledging their unfortunate usurped history."

Unique Starting Message:
"Mycelium.T or Mycelium Teddies were originally a strain of sentient fungoid found on the now Mycelia.
The original inhibitants(Teddies) found Mycelium.T by accident, mistaken it's adaptibility for an answer for immortality.
Mycelium.T were shortly forcefully administered into their entire population, It weren't be noted that Mycelium.T also robs and replace their sentient persona with that of Mycelium.T.
With this new identity the Mycelium.T Collective now seek new means to make friends and spread their spores in those great many parks they adores."

Barely decade ago, these very Rixi were still squibbling warring flocks aiming anti-air missiles at each others for long forgotten causes.

The Great Vassalage
Bio:

"The Vassalian holds great pride in the vassalage over the worlds in their realm. Native to Vababa, their feudalistic background heavily influenced their now agrarian, superstitious and thrifty nature, of which incidentally hindered their willingness to impart what they had already achieved. It wasn't until their recent militaristic reformations change the pace of progress, however the uncovering of the hyperlane greatly exacerbated their strive for a new found need to consolidation beyond their night skies."

Unique Starting Message:

"Running on the savanna of continental world of Vababa, the Vassalian grew out from their highly prized farmlands and thriftiness of worldly possession via their prayers to their believed precursors. Only through the recent militaristic reformations that the long awaited breakthough of uniting Vababa under a single banner was achieved. As if truly their precursors do answered to their strive to unite, the hyperlane was tested to them. The Great Vassalage was forged now to claim the view upon their night skies."

there are a number of other files involved, mainly for the descriptions and starting messages.

I tried to isolated most of the files for convenience so they are rather scattered into a number of files in various folders at the moment but I believe I am short of time for the post(apparently not), can I do an upload of the files instead? please advised, thanks.

To what extent is copyright infringement a concern? My favorite creations are ones that are based on other fictional works.

One of my favorite parts of Stellaris is the ability to recreate fictional races and roleplay as them.

Few additions to lore in bio, that explain some of the 'weird' parts of this faction:
- Wormholes are supposed to shatter and reform reality as they see fit, even though temporarily.
- They have been fighting eachother for countless millenia as well, thus - in their eyes, [wether or not true is other question] - they are the eldest of the eld of races. Including Fallen Empires [the later ones though didn't fall that far as 'first born']
- In past they dropped all of their morality and values after the 'great forgetting' and various factions adopted their own ethics; current ethics is one that won over all.
- They are xenophiles to 'note' that they will use whatever they can do further their goals.
- Despite rediscovery of old archive [they lore-wisely - study for duration of the game until very high levels of repeated techs] - archive's language and ways of thinking are so 'alien' to them, that it wouldn't be much of a strech claiming some more exotic technologies would be similary tasking as researching them from scratch completely.
- Their starting weapons are NOT Energy Weapons by choice - they use ballistics as starters as they're considered boring, but practical.
- Name "Primogenitor" is word describing 'first the family.
- Their starting world is NOT their original homeworld; It's also noted in the name itself - "Pandemonium" is reference to how their history progressed after their fall, and how they feel of this in relation to near mythical places of their origin.
- Some splinter groups of original may or may not be some of progenitors.
- According to them - Legends are 'ignots of truth reforged into legends'. Basically - pieces of truth that were changed, but keeping the true parts.
- Name list was chosen primarily because of ship names; They were supposed to have 'mythical' feeling, or rather - ship names were supposedly source of part of the myths.

I must admit I wished bio part was slightly larger to try to fit specific style for it ;)
There - fixed typo

the bio part can accomodate alot more it came with an auto scroll feature I thought, the starting mesaages on the other hand is rather troublesome.

well, not without mods you cannot - enter doesn't work to allow further lines, mouse wheel does nothing, writing anything before or after doesn't work either.; With rule nr 1 [built within boundaries of base game] and note to make it 'reasonable lenght' - I'm pretty sure that's valid limitation, and my comment is pretty spot on. Sure I can do it low level [file edition, modding] but heck; If such is base game's limitation - I won't override it ;)

I do admit though modding it would allow for much better factions and much higher degree of customisability ;)

  • For the Motherland
This species is a lizardlike reptilian that loves mining and minerals. They are friendly and won't harm anybody unless they get really annoyed. Millennia ago they received a message from a far away galaxy, and, after years of failed translating attempts, they finally got to translate a word, which, surprisingly, only meant "BLORG PARTY". Without knowing what that was really supposed to mean, they started searching deep into their pre-FTL alien files and got to know that the BLORG were peaceful friendly aliens that loved to party and lived in this galaxy centuries ago, but after a catastrophe had to migrate to a new galaxy. So, in search of their creators, these lizards developed a FTL engine so they could find BLORG and, possibly, a new friend, that turns out to be closer than they previously thought...
Species biography: These creatures hate sunlight but will do anything for a good mineral trade deal, even though they prefer to stay inside their dark cavelike houses playing with mining drones. If you try to steal their gems, they might get pissed, but otherwise they'll be the best friends you could ever dream of.

They had been studying a star that seemed to hold a planet habitable for human life for many years now, and kept it a secret from the outside world. One day, they dissappeared, leaving humanity to fend for itself. The Society established a science directorate, where the leading scientists and engineers maintained a government over the lesser members and their families. Perhaps humanity could start anew, and with a right frame of mind."

They survived on the jungles of their home planet by building structures called Hives, which housed all the needs of a member of the Swarm. These hives varied in size, housing anywhere from dozens to hundreds of thousands in one. As the size of the hives grew larger, major wars began to break out between the major factions that were forming.
