Mylée is a Militarist Empire that combines elements from medieval kingdoms and Cold War nations; A nation with a long history of political strongmen and surpressed revolutions, it has since become stable enough to actively pursue their goals in space colonisation.

Though their politics have since modernized there are still some archaic prejudices kept mostly against non-humans. Xenos have few rights in the nation save for mammalian species, whom, while still treated less than equally are quickly moving up in the world. Mylans are also obsessed with androids. The narcissistic people controversially gave them citizen rights before any other non-Mylan species.

Which caused friction between them and some of their very few allies in the Galaxy. Despite their Xenophobia, they're not beyond cooperating with other empires. Though there is always a significant favour towards those resembling humans more closely.

Their current leader, Miles Milheim, has aside from succesfully starting a space program, been very progressive in attaining more rights for the other political factions, including traders, engineers and even those striving for equal rights. Though religion has, as it's often been in their culture, largely neglected and even opressed.

The Empire of Myl, or Mylée (pronounced: me-lay) is governed by an assembly of guild leaders, with the militarists traditionally holding the most weight in their choices, traders coming in second and religious practice having been surpressed almost completely."

The citizens of Noregr are descendants of the kingdom of Norway, who in secret during the mid 21st century, had developed wormhole technology, and deemed it a "failiure", keeping the success a secret. The wormholes were developed to evacuate Norway in case of a catasrophy. Waging war for Jamtland, Herjedalen and Båhuslen against Sweden, Norway was losing, and fearing reprisal, the norwegian government evacuated every inhabitant of norway to a new world. The untested wormhole technology had adverse effects on norwegian physiology, mentality and society. Now, having adapted to a new world, they rise to retake that which they had lost.

(One of the side effects of the wormhole on their physiology is an extreme hatred of anything bright and warm, and one of their first acts upon arrival to this new world was to curse the very star which it orbited.)

Bothrian Travellers Protectorate

U1UatXh.jpg

Background:
The Bothrian Travellers Protectorate is a global confederation of explorer groups that descended from the nomadic tribes of the Bothrian tundra homeworld of Otharia. For much of their history, Bothrians lived with very little interest in global government. Their society was based mostly around small nomadic groups called families (in Bothrian: te’a). Despite the name, the families were often not entirely made up of blood relatives. They could range in size from as small as a set of parents and their children, to a large caravan of hundreds of members. All of the te’a in a given area considered themselves to be of the same tribe and use the name of that tribe as a surname (usually structured as “Tribe Name den Given Name”). Not all Bothrians lived a nomadic life however. Though few in number, there were some permanent settlements within each tribal territory. Usually no more than 2 or 3, although very large tribes may have had more. These settlements were usually far from the borders so as to avoid becoming involved in the conflicts that happened on an almost clockwork like basis, as various feuding te’a cycled through the same areas in a kind of resonance with each other. The settlements (which grew into true cities over the centuries) were centers of trade and governance for the their respective tribes. Their primary function though was to regulate the Te’a of their respective territories and ensure that the resources therein were not overused or depleted.

As permanent settlements were the exception rather than the rule, borders between the territories of the various tribes were somewhat ill-defined. This lead to conflicts and wars between neighboring tribes being regular, but surprisingly infrequent; only occurring when multiple groups wanted to use the same land at the same time. It also lead to a lack of interactions between the tribes and very little cultural mixing happened for most of Bothrian history. All of that changed though when the first Otharian Total War began. This was the first time in Bothrian history when cities came under direct attack and tribes attacked their neighbors with the expressed purpose of claiming new territory. Most of the causes can be traced back to simple overpopulation. Historical tribal territories were no longer sufficient to sustain all of the te’a that lived there. This period of history began during a time when Bothrian technology was already well into the late atomic/early modern age. The death toll was large but the shake-up of traditional tribal territories had the unexpected effect of forcing tribal cultures to interact and mix. As it turned out, Bothrians were quite fond of confronting new ideas and viewpoints and the wars died down, not by one side claiming victory, but by popular opinion of the tribes. This lead directly to the establishment of the Travellers Laws. Any Te’a, regardless of tribe, could migrate wherever they deemed fit. Cities would still be responsible for the resources of their territory, but they could no longer prevent or discourage te’a from neighboring tribes from entering. In fact, te’a would only retain their connection to their home tribe in name. They would legally be citizens of whatever cities territory they were currently in, and subject to their laws and authority.

Out of this system, a planetary government evolved. Advances in world wide communications networks allowed for every Bothrian to vote on issues of their governance, regardless of where they happened to be roaming at the time. Even with these advances though, the nomadic way of life continued to decline over time as more and more Bothrians abandoned their Te’a and moved into the cities. As the population of the planet expanded, a nomadic life became less and less feasible. It was only the dawn of the space age and the discovery of hyperlanes that renewed the Bothrian’s desire to wander. With whole new world of resources open to them, the Bothrians are now free to reclaim their nomadic nature among the stars.

Late in their history a great war forced cultures who had never met to intermingle. This lead directly to the establishment of the Travellers Laws. Any Te'a, regardless of tribe, could migrate wherever they deemed fit. The dawn of the space age renewed the Bothrian’s desire to wander. With whole new world of resources open to them, the Bothrians are now free to reclaim their nomadic nature among the stars."

The Forum.

Initial I planned these guys around having high ethics divergence as a goal. The point still stands that they view migration rights as the most fundamentally important thing.

Just a few short years ago the Miidari were a scientific race, believing that faith in anything save themselves was misfounded. This all changed when a single Miidari, known as Beak of Purple was blessed with visions from an unknown diety. Eternal.jpg

The Eternal Imperium was founded by a charismatic religious leader, who led his people to the stars using experimental wormhole technology. They found their promised land in a pristine ocean world, which was saturated with bacteria that bonded with the new colonists on a genetic level and more than doubled their life span. They saw this as a sign that their faith is the only truth in the universe and proclaimed their leader a living god.

After a generation, the Eternals had perfected their Wormhole technology and were ready to go back to the stars, find new worlds and spread their divine truth to the galaxy, by any means necessary.

Centuries ago the Slerpanor united their species when their scientists conclusively proved that they did not evolve on their world. This revelation changed them to a deeply introspective and religious people. Believing sentient life a divine gift they have longed to explore the cosmos and find their maker or others that the Great Hydra has made. Their species has one to three heads with those with more heads being given higher status. Having finally developed their Star Bridges the Slerpanoran people are ready to step out and take their place in the galaxy.

זשאַבעס.jpg

Zhabe from Yiddish: "זשאַבעס". Pronounced Zhah-beh in singular form; the "s" in "Zhabes" is a long-s sound so it'd come out sounding like "Zhah-bess".

My Lizard people (named after an old norse word for 'Ruler')

C3CMoZf.jpg

The Valdr are hardy race, seeing as they evolved on an arid world with little water. This need to find water has left the race a certain restlessness from the need to scour the landscape. It also makes them a pragmatic species that tends to view the practical as more important then the mystical or unseen.

Pragmatism was the rule, and their resourcefulness and ingenuity led them to tools, strength and in the end civilization, But the stars never stopped beckoning them from above, through diplomacy and war alike the Valdr united their world and set their sights on the colors their ancestors looked up at for so long. When the first Ph'nglui explorers reached the stars, they looked out into the black void and they knew immediately that this was the true home of the old ones, and the galaxy must be prepared for their return.

As decades of genocide wreaked havoc across the planet, the Murloc clans endured. As other people saw the Murloc as annoying, existing only to be slaughtered, the Murloc survived. When all other peoples died out, still the Murloc clans remained. They're space dragons, hoarding their individual wealth and accumulating it over their long lifespans, and willing to use any means to protect and expand their hoards. They now turn to the stars, to hoard entire star systems worth of wealth to themselves.
