Communist Ming

This will be an AAR of the Ming Dynasty with a communist modus operandi. Starting in 1444 , I will attempt (and may very possibly fail) to turn Ming into super power capable of defending it's self against the imperial powers. I am neither promoting nor denouncing communism, I am merely seeing how much I can twist history.

December 1st 1444

For my first orders of business, I decided to hire an administrative adviser (+3), who gives a nice 2.00% boost in missionary effectiveness. A missionary was also sent to Dali to help rid Ming of non-state religions, Sibsongbanna and Yunnan are next on the list. In terms of foreign affairs, the navy and only merchant was sent to protect trade in the Bejing node to take it from Manchu and boost trade income. To give myself some military backup in the event of a war, I allied myself with Korea and accepted a request for a Royal Marriage.

October 30th 1445
When faced with issue of Neo-Confucianism, I decided to denounce it. Since most communist states adopted Atheism as their state religion (please, don't start a trivial debate over the question of atheism being a religion or not) it seemed only proper to promote the state religion. Using a dichotomy of role playing and imagination, we will be pretending that Confucianism is actually Atheism for the remainder of this AAR. If you're going to be a Squidward, please refrain from sharing your opinion.

November 11th 1446

It appears as if my lovely ally Korea has forced me to invade Manchu per-maturely. Manchu's military is pretty pathetic compared to the People's Liberation Army, however, over-extension from the spoils of war could pose a threat to stability. Taking Hinggan will be my primary objective.

May 16th 1448

The war with Manchu ended fruitlessly, obviously Korea doesn't share our idea of equal distribution, because they didn't give us any provinces in the peace talks. Instead, they just annexed a piece for themselves and called it a day. In the near future, I will attempt to expanding the Southern border.

June 8th 1449

A capitalist plot to oppress the proletarians of Ming was recently discovered! The bureaucrat faction was reducing trade power and technological advancement in order to help with building projects... and make money! Since we lack the technology to build even the most basic of buildings, it is obvious the plutocrats only had their personal wealth in mind. To counter their greed, I used some we used our excess diplomatic power to put the Eunuch Faction in power. With the people's interest in mind, our trade power has been increased and technological penalties reduced.

May 18th 1450

With no internal issues and Korea guarding the Northern front, I decided to spread our sphere of influence of Southward. Lan Xang, being one of the most despotic countries is Southern Asia, is the target of Chinese expansion for now. The People's Liberation army out numbers them so over powering them won't be an issue. They do have an alliance with Pegu, but with no land routes to Lan Xang, I doubt they'll be interfering.

August 2nd 1451

The conquest of Lan Xang was over quicker than I had expected. To save on the cost of core creation, it seemed sensible to vassalize them and then annex them to save on the administrative points. Only problem is the that our relations with Pegu have been damaged and Dai Viet has started a coalition against us in an attempt to stop the spread of communism.

October 16th 1458
After years of building up manpower, it is time for the second wave of South Asian expansion. The People's Liberation Army will invading Dai Viet. A company of mercenaries has been hired to deal with their ally, Lan Na. Dragging their ally into the war may prove to work in our favor, as it is inadvertently giving us an excuse to invade them as well. By the time this war is over, Ming will most likely be able to begin annexing Lan Xang.

January 17th 1460
Dai Viet's little side kick, Lan Na surrendered first, this didn't come as a big surprise. Dai Viet half of Dai Viet is already occupied by Ming and with the other half is nearing collapse, I think it's safe to that the second wave of South Asian expansion is coming to a successful close.

March 29th 1460

Not even three months after the fall of Lan Na, Dai Viet surrendered to the People's Liberation Army under the condition that it would become a vassal of Ming. With the second wave officially over and three vassals in the region, it's obvious that communism has will continue to spread rapidly. Indochina has show that it is incapable of holding back Ming and it has become apparent that it is not a matter of if, but a matter of when they will fall under communist control. This region is usually easy pickings for the European imperialists, so not only is this conquest helping Ming gaining power, it is slowly making it harder for colonial powers to get footholds.

Communist Ming AAR: Entry Two

Communist Ming

April 11th 1461
The first major war in Asian has broken out, it's grow out of a new rise of power and expansion coming from the two major Asian powers, Ming and Korea. Due to their expansion, they became the target's of a large coalition, consisting of Shan, Ayutthaya, Mongol Khanate and Oirat Horde. Although these nations are leaning towards the weaker side, there is strength in numbers and fighting a three front war may prove to be a challenge.

July 23rd 1463
Due to a crushing defeat against Shan's army at Dali, coalition forces have been able to take the upper hand in this region. The last of Ming's forces were killed here, due to a lack of manpower, Ming will now have to resort to hiring Mercenaries to help fight the war. The choice on how to handle this alarming situation will made after a large enough force has been assembled.

September 3rd 1463
The decision has been made to help the colaborate with the Korean forces on the task of securing the Northern front. Once the this threat has been dealt with the People's Liberation Army will immediately return it's attention to the Southern front in an attempt to push the coalition forces out of our Indochinese holdings.
October 12th 1464
As the severity of the situation on the Southern front intensifies, a 2nd mercenary army (clever titled the 3rd Army to give the illusion of of a larger fighting force) was raised to rid Dai Viet of coalition forces. Although the war is still mainly being fought inside Ming's territory, the Communist forces are making gains and have reset the warscore to zero.
March 1st 1465
As much as I would like to continue to push the coalition forces back into their territory and annex some of their lands, I decided to accept Shan's offer of a white peace. Rising war exhaustion, an inability to begin annexing vassals and a depleting treasury is to high of cost and risk to continue the war effort. It would be much more beneficial to accept the peace and turn my attention to Ming's internal well being.

May 13th 1465
The process of annexing Lan Xang has finally begun. Once under out full control, we will be able to receive the full tax and manpower benefits of the region, as well as begin spreading our state religion to the area. Ming is also less than two hundred administrative points away from unlocking it's first national idea.

September 1st 1466
The death of Ming's great leader has lead to a stability drop and spike in revolt risk. Rebels have begun popping up in our lands and are an increasing threat. Civil wars are often the most bloody and measures will be taken to make sure this rebellion doesn't get out of control. Unfortunately, the largest contributing factors to the revolts are war exhaustion and a loss of the Mandate of Heaven, so my ability to raise the stability is practically useless. Internal problems like this are no laughing matter and can quickly bring even the most powerful empire to it's knees.

November 14th 1466
It would appear as if the sky is has intervened in the Chinese turmoil. “Because of our ideological similarities, we feel inclined to support the rebels. They'll need all the help they can get.” said one star. Ming's government has stated that they suspect this may be part of a capitalist plot and that the sky was possibly bribed on several occasions.
November 8th 1467
The first national idea I chose was quantity. As a nation with a large population, one of Ming's major strength's is it's ability to outnumber it's enemies. This idea will allow Ming to capitalize on this strength, putting us one step close to becoming a superpower.

October 23rd 1468

After putting down two large rebellions for nearly two years, the People's Liberation Army suffered a crippling defeat at the hands of Zhou Nationalists in the province of Yunnan. Although the situation is still under control and the option of troop/mercenary recruitment are still readily available, this battle is a disturbing precursor to events that may soon follow.
