Ok, what is this? My court is pretty bad (I'm count of Pskov) and I'm happy that all my siblings have 10 - 14 stats in their fifteens. However for some reason they all depart to the court of Kiev (my liege, was recently Novgorod but Kiev became primary title for some reason, ruler didn't die).

I didn't send them as fosterling. Why is it so? I want good advisors dammit! :(

Did their (your) widowed mother leave the Court? Did you by chance marry her off? If she was still alive and she moved to another court, her minor children will follow her.

PS: If she left on her own, and you happen to have a spare single, Adult male dynasty member handy, marry her back into your court, and those kids should follow her back.

I didn't marry her, but she left the court for some reason. I don't have any of those traits, but prestige was a bit low and my bishop was a heretic.

That last thing can be the reason for the departure of a lot of your courties
But hey, he converted my chancellor as a heretic too. :p

That is all past now. My count of Pskov has become Prince of Livonia. Now I am to take Savolax and Karelia from the pagans before I can wrestle other Finnish provinces from Sweden. My goal is an orthodox Kingdom of Finland which can then be imported into EU3.

Until now, i've played with the release version of DV (and abused the free upkeep for troops at sea when I was poorer), but thought I should upgrade to the latest beta patch (and maybe some mods, probably only graphics ones to begin with though). Do the beta patch, DVIP, TASS or anything else affect my ability to continue with my current saves?

They probably wouldn't crash anything. But the scenarios have new culture and title setups, so you could find some Russian Prince now has the title a random Arab Emir.

The changed culture setup probably means you'll have Norwegians living in Albania or something.

They probably messed with some traits, too.

So if you try most things will work, but some things will be really confusing.

That is not correct for DVIP.
Installing DVIP over an unmodded game will not change any tags, so you can continue playing with the same kingdoms, duchies, cultures. You will get the new events, maybe be able to create new kingdoms and duchies etc., but you will not suddenly get the strange effects Nick B mentions.
To get the complete new culture setup and characters you will need to start a new game.

Installing TASS on top of DV will cause strangeness since TASS does reuse and change tags from the original game. However it should still be playable.

I have a question about lending an army to my liege. Is there a way I can get it back at a time? Or has he a time limit?
For he take my army for a year or so, leaving me with my two vassals (one of then having 5 men only) to manage my eventual wars.

When I was a vassal of the King of France, he once mobilised my troops, and kept a couple of regiments mobilised for years. I found said regiments on the map, and one of them had less than 10 men left... Plus, I don't think he was even at war the whole time (although a crusade might have been on). A lot of the time they were just walkin around southern France or sitting in place in Sicily or something.

After that, I don't think I ever raised my troops for him to control, which of course gave fun disloyalty events. And of course, I did keep army upkeep at 0 almost all of the time, so it didn't actually cost me anything other than the use of my regiment.

disclaimer: I was playing with DV release, not the newest patch, and AI aggressive was either normal or maybe the one above normal.

My king died and the kingdom was inherited by someone outside my dynasty. However I had a distant member of the family as a vassal count for insurance as I knew my king was old and without children. However when the king died, the game ended instead of passing to the count. Do they need to be within a certain number in the succession order for the game to pass to them?

AFAIK they need to be listed as one of the heirs (so in the top 7 of heirs I believe)

What might have happened is I had a few other families members before the count in the succession order who had no title. Perhaps the game passed to them but because they had no title the game ended instead of going further down the order searching for a title-holding family member.

My succession order just before the king's death was:
4 foreigners, 3 non-title-holding children, 1 foreigner and then the count

You can only play title-holding characters. So that non-title holder relatives are in line of inheritance doesn't matter in this case.

Well I don't know why the game ended then.

Not to say that Veld is wrong, but the only time I was allowed to continue playing after getting that "You've Lost" message, was when I had a Titled Heir who wasn't part of my Realm.

Also important to know if you play DV or just CK ?

Since things seem to have changed in this respect with DV.
