My low density commercial buildings are working fine. Its only those high density ones which always complain about either lack of goods or lack of people to sell. I try balancing the residents and industry, try to get them as near as possible, make sure there is less traffic, but to no avail. They just complain of one of those things! I just want to know what im doing wrong.. How does the commercial buildings in this game work actually?? Too bad there is no 'wiki' page for this to explain how these game mechanics work..

Thanks

commercial buildings need goods to sell. They can either import them from the outside world or buy them from your non specialized (consumer) industries.

If they have trouble buying goods its probably because of bad traffic. Having a good highway connection or pairs of cargo rail yards at your industrial sector and your commercial sector will help.

Lack of people to sell to I'm a little less familiar with, haven't really had it happen myself. I suppose it is also probably caused by traffic and/or over saturation of commercial space relative to residential.

I to have not had "lack of people to sell to".

But for the lack of goods is as Shiggs mentioned.
Some of your commercial will demand other goods than your your industry produces. Make sure your commercial is connected to the outside world so they can quickly get those goods. Remember if cars stay to long in traffic etc, they dispawn. So they will never make it to the commercial, Its not always trafick, but travel distances to. Had that issue in my 1st city.
