As Germany, 1936, I start with 12% dissent. Add two for the important ministerial changes. Around August, after dedicating the bulk of my IC to consumer goods, I've removed dissent. That's half a year of lost production. Hitler has a birthday! Too bad there's no dissent anymore. :(

1937 is a long drought of good news. Don't do anything to add dissent. :D

1938- Anschluss! Happy days! Sudeten! Ditto! Memel! Encore! If only I'd been ravaged by dissent BEFORE these happy events.

1939 rolls around and, WHAM!, we renounce a treaty, 5% dissent, a bomb goes off, add 3% more, I achieve a critical treaty with Russia! (yawn).

I win in Poland and meet treaty obligations, whoops! 3% more dissent. It seems there weren't any happy Germans when I reclaimed Danzig and brought half of Poland into the Reich. I spend well over half the year dedicating large amounts of IC to reducing dissent. Ah! TWO nobel prizes! Well, better late than never.

Who are all these children-without-mothers and why have they not been warned about my camps-for-the-unhappy?

I can't believe someone is trying to distract me from a perfectly good obloquy by the mention of pointless facts...... :D

Seriously, did the "birthday" event pop up in august? :D

No, it did not. However, in my present game the birthday has not popped up yet and I'm at Oct 38. Does it only appear in 1939? I really didn't notice.....(Update-No, It popped up in April, (ahem), as you said.)

I'm continually RE-starting because I continually arrive at 1940 short of troops, or planes, or something. In the previous unfinished game I didn't finish researching Blitzkreig until Poland had fallen and then I got the blueprint for Delay from Slovakia. How embarassing!

I re-started this one to try NOT pouring IC into consumer goods but, instead, dribbling it in..heh. So, I reduced dissent by a mere .02 for a long period, around to Mar 37, I think it took me. It's helped that I didn't lay down hulls for Tirpitz and Hipper, which I like to do for historical resonance. In vanilla I always created cav, too, for the same reason. There's just not enough IC in TRP to allow for that.

I'm always in disbelief when I read some post saying they've created 35 Int by Barbarossa, or 120 Inf, etc. I always find myself JUST BARELY updating my aircraft before Sept 39 and from there on I'm in a quandary about whether to build new units or update all those 36 Inf and older Arty. This time I'm not even building brigades for Inf! No AA for my HQ's. Somehow I'll strike a formula for production that will give me necessary quantity and acceptable quality (I'm hoping)

Btw, the research page for the 1939 Tac bomber says that the JU-52 will be made obsolete. Should that not read the DO-17? (Update- 'Obsolete' means it is no longer capable of being built and is removed from the production menu)

I think you should focus on industrial in '36. Build some factories, which increase your IC and have the additional benefit of increasing your TC. I never produce even a single INF unit in '36. It's relatively easy to keep up with developments until '38-'39. By then you have to make serious decisions. I'd say you focus on infantry and armoured units, and don't forget to spent some IC on your airforce (INT, TAC and CAS).

It should be relatively easy to have +/- 65 divisions for Poland along with some 30-40 divisions on the french border. Maybe another 10 for Denmark and Yugoslavia... And a lot more in production, as you'll have 2 mobilization events; one in '38 and one in '39. Don't know beyond that, I've never done a succesful Barbarossa with DD-TRP... Though there will be some russian/ukraine volunteers come '42...

Still learning, but the mod is damn good. :)

Thanks, King.

With my 'dribbling' plan I've acheived the number, pre-Poland, that you suggested. I built 4 IC in 36, 3 more in 37. I'm presently at Mar 30, 1940 and have troops and tanks online to be around 100 and 15, respectively. I let the people have their Volkswagons, heh. I've got 10 fighters and 15 ints with 10 Tacs and 6 Cas. That's probably too little for Russia.

By assigning my least capable leaders to air squadrons I've manage to get two 'Superior Tactician' Air Marshalls and keep them busy against the Allied air incursions. I'm holding back my own Tacs and Cas because , even when unopposed, they take 15-20 % losses in a single attack against a mere 2 AA defending. Otoh, they do achieve much more damaging results when they attack, as do the Allied air attacks.

My sub war is good with 128 trans and 30 escorts sunk. I use a max of 5 subs
in a fleet and only had 20. I've found that big sub fleets (over 10) get into LONG battles that are, essentially, just experience boosters and not very realistic. With only 5 or less to a fleet the incentive is there to get out of the battle before they get sunk and the allies will sometimes run, too. My losses after 7 months is a mere 5 subs. That's a pretty accurate depiction of the sub war successes Germany ahd early on.

Are you playing with the Naval beta?

No, I'd read about it but couldn't find it on the TRP site. I also read about the improvements you've planned for the next update and completely agree on preventing BB's and such from actively hunting for subs!

Update- Is it Naval Beta 1.2? I just went and found it through a thread there.
Will I have to re-start if I install it? I just took France down (took me 29 days) and, since my previous post, I've sunk now 185 trans and 100 escorts, which is around 20% of the UK's starting numbers. Maybe they aren't all hers? Anyway, that's pretty crushing considering I'm still only using a total of 15 subs.
