Yeah, needs some balancing. Nice core concept, though, makes my generals feel more human :) .

Meanwhile in China, Haipeng gets injured every three months o_O
Tell him to leave that great white stag alone :p .

This is another of those annoying and pointless features added in 1.5.
I really like it myself. Generals could fall ill or get injured, after all. The rate at which it happens might be too high at the moment, but it's great for immersion. I'm looking forward to seeing more flavour/personality content like this both in Stellaris and HOI4 :) .

Agree they definitely 'feel' more human, and loving the overall changes to generals and FMs.

Generals did get ill, wounded and burnt-out.

Maybe it'd be a less bitter pill to swallow if we could send them back to staff college to focus on a specific trait. Say 2 slots at staff college.

I didn't even realise generals falling ill was part of the game. I've had my Cuban army fighting the Axis all over Africa for more than 2 years, including in the Congo, and haven't had either of my generals (1 x Gen, 1 x FM) fall ill that I've noticed. Does a message pop up telling you it's happened or is it something that just impacts their stats, meaning it may have happened and I didn't realise?

Yeah you get a big pop-up
Then a little icon in the generals traits.

Reckon that you may not have enough in the field to get it much yet.

Also, don't know but seemed like generals assigned to swamp more likely to fall ill. Does terrain affect it?

I had this as well. Maybe it's dependent on the terrain, maybe it's on attrition or low supply (swamps give some attrition if I remember correctly).

Would be nice if we could reduce risk by giving them some down time. rotating them out for a month or something.

Agreed. R&R, or the lack of it, should really matter for both troops and generals. One of podcat's design aims for tiger was to make commanders more interesting; I'm all for the new mechanics of traits and illnesses and whatnot, but the implementation clearly needs some tweaking.

I knew when this feature was announced it was going to be bad. I don't have enough original general photos as it is! By all means, get me to those wonderful generic or ghost generals as quickly as possible!!!

Yeah, I think they succeeded in making them more like people and matter more. I had Manstein and Gudarian get ill right before my spring offensive. Certainly makes used other generals

My only small gripes are that skills take a bit too long, and need more generals across the board.

THANK YOU @GSP Jr

Also, am I thinking wrong if I'm thinking that me, playing the supreme leader of a country, would be the least bit interested if one of my Generals had the sniffles?
Or would I fire the first subordinate that came to me with that (useless) information and in so doing would prevent anyone else wasting my time telling me about a headache a General may have?
Did Ike know if Patton had a belly ache?
Sure, playing as Hitler I want to know if any of my Generals were injured, but feeling ill? I think this is where this new feature went off the rails.

I had several people fall ill before the war, but during the war I've had no dramas strangely.

It's definitely terrain dependant, some terrain types increase the chances of becoming ill if you mouse over the terrain effects. I'm curious how big the effect is though, is it a flat increase if any division is in there? Is it an increase per division? Is it dependant on the proportion of divisions commanded?

Very strange indeed, I haven't had a single sickness during peacetime yet. Maybe it's because I mainly play as Romania and Hungary, and there aren't many swamps and the like within their borders.

After watching 4 generals in a row fall sick last night while I was fabricating on Saudi Arabia and Iraq, I agree with the general sentiment. Nice idea, but the chance to happen needs to be nerfed. It is more annoying now than good content. The penalty of losing half the stats and ALL bonuses is too harsh for the frequency that this happens.

@Archangel85 How about adjusting the base chance to happen, and/or the additional % in desert?
