This is something I have been noticing with the new commander system is that my generals fall ill, a lot. I feel that this happens perhaps too frequently, especially since I have playing as countries which mostly have challenging climates, such as Xibei San Ma.

I can understand how a British general could fall sick fresh on assignment in North Africa, but my issue is that these generals who have apparently been born-and-raised in a desert or jungle climate are still prone to sickness from that climate! While such climates may take their toll on everyone, even those who are experienced in those sort of climate conditions, I imagine that a person who grew up in the tropics, or mountains, or in an arid climate would fall ill less frequently, or at least know how to cope with the weather better to keep themselves healthy.

Seems like every new general falls ill.

Havn't checked the files, but I think you are right. Under extreme conditions they seem too fall ill faster. But in general (e.g. playing Germany) I actually don't see that event very often.

I have the feeling, that Generals fall ill way more in foreign territory. Although it felt weird to see my generals falling ill every few months while I pushed the USA to their western border as Germany, because the weather/condition isn't that diverse like Germany -> Africa for example.

It’s one thing if a European from a temperate climate is sent to the colonies and gets sick, it’s another problem when you have no choice but to fight in that sort of terrain if it’s your homeland.

For example, as Xibei San Ma, all my borders are desert. And most of my interior is mountainous. How am I supposed to protect my territory effectively when my leaders are constantly sick?

I don't know, I kind of like it. It lets me cycle through some of my lesser used generals more. Though I think being ill for thirty days at a time every time is a bit strange. It should vary between a certain amount of days.
This, I like the 'real' feel of it.
Heck what would really piss people off would be if they added 'burn out'.
But yes, some more random time-spans

And unless I've missed it, a tool tip to say how long left being ill ?

If you hover over the symbol for being ill, it says how many days are left.

And I like it too, it adds a roleplaying element; those generals can keep going on commanding, but I'd rather give them a break. You can assign him to garrison duty while waiting for him to recover.

Agree it should be a randomized number between 7 and 30 days. I also wouldn't mind if generals were able to be killed, but as a gameplay feature that might suck.

We're already quite short on generals since the new command system, if generals would be killed the AI armies would very quickly be populated by the generic clones.

When I tool tipped the general it looks like -25% reduction


Would be nice if we could reduce risk by giving them some down time. rotating them out for a month or something.
