Commander Experience

Suppose I have a field marshal (can command 12 divisions) with six divisions under his command. He and a Lieutenant General (can command 6 divisions) with six divisions are in province A. They both attack province B.

Will the Lieutenant General gain experience? Or does it all go to the field marshal?

They both gain experience, not just the leader who is commanding the entire battle.
