As Com CHi, Chairman Mao have conquered all of independant Middle East countries and is now posed to breakout into conquest of Axis controlled Europe. It will be flesh against steel as Mao has no armor. Have ~150 divisions for the strike, majority Infantry'41.
Can anybody who have taken on the Axis with no/limited armor share experience?
It's March'42 and Italy, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Vichy are German allies.
I'm counting on that the Wehrmacht forces to be busy with Soviets which they have pushed far beyond Moscow/Stalingrad to stike from their rear. From starting point at Istanbul following the red arrows are the main thrust of my "Long March" army formations, I'll annex Bulgaria, than Romania, followed by Hungary before attacking towards Berlin. The orange arrows are secondary thrust to secure flanks and will stop at the yellow defensive lines.
Another Caucausian campaign from north-east of Turkey will attempt to seize oil and IC rich provinces from German held Soviet teritory once German completed the conquest of that area. Downsized-Turkey is my puppet, spared from complete annexation to get hold of their blueprints.

I wonder how much can be achieved before winter of '42. Note that Soviets are not my ally (intend to keep it that way because I want to keep their provinces as well) and Korea+Turkey are my puppets and Japan has been annexed before US could join Allies. Playing on DDv1.3a with DAIM on Hard/Aggresive level. Any advice welcome.

Why did you attack Saudi Arabia?

Well, I was in a similar situation as Nationalist China, except I wasn't into Europe, I went straight for the USSR(Declared war), as the Germans were already beating them easily so I decided to save the citizens of Siberia from National Socialism. We clashed on an uneven front line east of the Caspian Sea then I constantly pushed them westwards, I forget just how far I got, but I know I basically won. I don't think you really NEED armor

Their was something on here about a Nepalese navy, you got a navy?
My Navy are a bunch of TPs. With blueprints on naval ships and doctrine from Turkey, I trying to get up to speed to build my DD and CVL fleets.

Why did you attack Saudi Arabia?
Because I can make a big mass of land orange color :) Plus Medina (Arab west coast) is now my landing point for troop sea tranports from the far east. Entering Mediterranean can be dangerous due to Italian fleet when I am later with war with Axis. But the main reason is still the 1st reason.
Downside is that I got to bear with some TC strain but my garrison+MP on Q will take care of it vy soon.

I don't think you really NEED armor
Maybe you're right on this. I hope to overwhelm their armor by sheer numbers.

Well, 150 divisions right? Assuming you don't face the whole of the Axis strength(although to be sure I'd need their numbers also) I think it can be done, I remember I had a LOT of soldiers, just don't stop producing them :D

And then I went and brigaded each and every unit.

Edit: Btw...instead of asking "why'd you conquer Saudi Arabia" perhaps you should be asking yourself "why not?" :D

Well, just when I wanted to leave the alliance with Japan (I played with Communist China) they pulled me into war when they bombed Pearl Harbor, so I had no other way but to push the redcoats all the way to Iraq:D

I'll post my screenshot later on. :)

Nice performance, although mass inf is too bland for me. GER looks like they've almost won, only Sverdlovsk needed now for Bitter Peace, but the great majority of their armies is on that front, so I think you will beat them soundly and even save the Soviet Union if you attack right away.

Create a 23INF + 1 HQ megacorps under a FM and give it an objective of Stettin. That way it doesnt have to rest 24 hours between attacks on individual provinces. The rest of you army can form a line behind them to the Dardanelles and cut the entire German army off from its supply base.

The baltic nations are a secondary target. Have you got a Chief of staff that boosts land unit speed? Use him.

Can you have a 23 megacorps with about a stacking penalty? I thought the biggest Corps even with a HQ is limited to 12 without a penalty? Or is th penalty there but just not large enough to couter the benefits such a large formation?

Also, just to help me understand the idea of a stacking penalty, how big is it? If I have a general that can command one divison commanding four, is it possible for him to still win against European armies?

Having an HQ doubles command limit of any General/FM commanding a combat with it. The number will still be red, though.

If I were in your shoes... I'd probably never have made it this far.

But if I didn't, I'd try to create encirclement in southern Russia and grind the Germans up against the Soviet front lines; or possibly strike up through the 'soft underbelly of Europe', knocking out Germany's weaker allies in the Balkans.

I was under the impression the HQ doubling was for the purposes of the provincial attack vector - in other words, 11 inf+HQ in one corps, 12 inf in the other, both under FMs, would be fine attacking, but 12 inf and an HQ would have one division at -75 at least (and maybe all 13 divisions lose skills and talents? Or just overflow divisions?)

Wheras defending, there is no 'provincial limit," so you could have 12 inf in 2 corps under 2 FMs without needing an HQ as you would if you were attacking.

In other words, 'red is bad.' Isn't it? Otherwise I've been grossly overcomplicating my command arrangements.

What land doctrine are you using
Human wave thingy.

Nice performance, although mass inf is too bland for me
I think I have no choice as I can't even build tanks. Have no brigades too as that mean I need to research say artillery and I don't want to be slowed down. But SP-Arty is too far down the tech tree. Have a bunch of calvary to swoop in fast into unheld teritory, lots of militias churning out from a single Q from '36, about a dozen Moutains. Others are 'bland' soldiers in boots. Got two HQ to separately support 24inf division attacks where required. I always separate my HQ unit alone lead by a skill 1 General. Have build 4 early fighters but did not have the tech prowness to research higher air techs.

Have annex Romania and soon will be Bulgaria. WIll post a screenshot after that. I'd realise the problem is not armor but AXIS infantry that has org >100%!! Mine is only 59 max!

German alone has 250infantry, plus the other totalling up to another 100+.

But if I didn't, I'd try to create encirclement in southern Russia and grind the Germans up against the Soviet front lines; or possibly strike up through the 'soft underbelly of Europe', knocking out Germany's weaker allies in the Balkans.
That is exactly what I am doing. By annexing German's allies, my teritory can expand much faster without loosing infra.

Have you got a Chief of staff that boosts land unit speed?
Didn't use that guy, I think I use the one that gives me -15% supply consumption. I speed thru by ensuring my lead forces are on supply and use TP to land from shore (eg at Romania). Whenever I want to supply my troop, I always use a Logistic general. (have got a leaderless militia division to go along with the main army where I will switch it to logistic leader when needed, split my other division to it that actullay needed the offensive supply. You would need to split-combine correctly so as to have no org loss to the units you want to go for offense, though.)

Actually, they still need Leningrad and Baku, both of which are harder to take then you'd think if the Soviets actually put divisions there.

Human Wave will inevitably beat the Germans, even with their high org. My advice is to just keep smashing into them over and over- you org will refill much faster, and you can take any manpower losses they incur. With the Russians doing the same thing, Germany will run out of manpower in about a year. Then, you've won! Don't forget to get your doctrine techs ASAP.

From picture I see one quite obvoius strategy. The problem is - no tanks.

From the start just pound forward until you meet Soviets around Leningrad (or capture Leningrad). You will cut-off all Ger armies on the Soviet front, and its pretty much only way to end war with Germans quickly. Going for Konigsberg and Memel wont be enough because Germans will capture Leningrad sooner than you reach Batlic coast. When you will move forward send small units - 1 or 2 corps to expand corridor. That way you wont be cut-off by Germans (at least not too fast).

I would advise to just defend Istanbul. Its excellent province to defend. Moving with standard infrantry through mountains in the Balkans could be very slow if possible at all. You have no idea what troops are ahead, and AI love to stack capitals, so when you reach Sofia or Bucharest or Budapest you can face huge stack of units which could be very difficult to destroy/remove/defeat and all of that = slooooow moving. Time is of the essence. Strike from Caucasus. Only 2 or 3 mountain provinces and later plains till Finland border.

Whatever you do, one thing is paramount: Germans cannot be allowed to trigger Bitter Peace.

I did something similar with china once.. and Germany was a pushover.. Their hole army is at the east front, and if you hit the baltic fast, their army will never make it back because it will be out of supply.
Okay I agree, I hit them in '43 so by the time '44 came around Germany was out of MP too...
My problem was not lack of tanks (had some mot/mec) or the german army (never meet it), but instead that my TC went though the sky.. so much more partisan activity in europe.. and if you instead liberate some countries then you get the 5% desent.. So that was what slowed me down..

and a little gamy hit.. If you liberate Lebanon and Syria then they will give you blueprint for all of France pre-Vichy navy and air tech.. which help quite a bit.. especially by '45 when you get the techteam that can actually research those things.

from my past experience as Nat.Chi.,with human wave you just keep pushing forward, don't even need to attempt encirclement.they will fall.no technical difficulty at all.

Have no tank research capability in early '42 so it is impossible.
To rush northward from Caucus means I'm taking over Russian held province which means that I am not impacting much of German's industry. It will be better to burst thru the Balkans/Romania straight into German heartland. Progressing into this... wanna post some pix but can't coz my home internet connection is down :(

from my past experience as Nat.Chi.,with human wave you just keep pushing forward, don't even need to attempt encirclement.
I still try to encircle where possible when I see a "delicious" stack of infantry marked as >3 or greater :)

If you liberate Lebanon and Syria then they will give you blueprint for all of France pre-Vichy
Thx for the tip! But I may have gotten most of what I need from Turkey. I actually have lots of blueprints but I my skill 5 and below techteams are not researching fast enough!
