same problem here. though i tried the option "strike" on the enemy system, because i read in the forum, that invade doesnt work really. I searched forum after I saw the time I need to invade the planet: 68 turns with a cruiser fleet .. after I build a fleet with three assault shuttle carriers i needed over 700 turns..

Strike missions are sigle turn attacks, Invasions missions have you stay there as long as there is a target or till your fleets have to go home. The Times you were seeing are how long that fleet can stay at the target system
