Way back when the game was going to be originally released there was supposed to be colony events. It was decided to focus on the late game and so colony events were put on hold for a later date.

That was a long time ago and there has been no mention of them since. We have the 2 from release - migrating forests and subterranean aliens - which are really cool and make the colonies they appear on feel really unique and special.

I was really looking forward to getting more. Right now desert planet 1 is no different than desert planet 14. Living on one alien planet should have totally different problems versus another, even within the same types. Maybe it turns out that one fringe desert colony is inhabited by giant sand worms (totally would name the planet dune btw) or there's a ocean world that has huge tides that submerge all the land masses on its surface 3 months of the year.

Have colony events been forgotten about? Scrapped? Postponed? Anything?

There's loads of them already. Off hand the memorable ones that spring to mind:

Helpful(ish) ancient mining drones discovered.
Titanic life investigations.
Hallucinogenic shenanigans.
Abandoned terraforming project.

Pretty sure there are more, but those ones specifically have multiple choices and can apply long term modifiers to a colony.

There should be more, but there are already more than just that. I just had one with out of control mining drones I didn't see before.

There is also the abandoned terraforming project and the atmospheric hallucinogenic spores or pollen.

What I don't like is how the events happen a bit too fast after one another. They could be spaced out farther apart.

There are a few others, but there very much need to be more. There also need to be more diplomatic incidents, as there are only two that I know of.

I forgot about those. They seem to me to spring up so rarely I never usually see them.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've got a colony event which given the number of worlds I've colonized is a crazy % them spawning. Unless I'm just unlucky. Anyone know if there will ever be more? Or is this a thing for modders?

I'm not opposed to mods so if anyone has a good one for adding cool, new events (that's reasonably balanced) please let me know.

There's the More Events Mod which does exactly what it says on the tin. Hadn't been updated to 1.5 when I checked earlier today though.

Guilli's Planet Modifiers adds loads of...well...planet modifiers which should help differentiate your worlds. I haven't seen sandworms yet, but I have had a world infested with giant spiders.

Thanks for the info.

Is the mod pretty well written/implemented? I will try it myself but I was curious of your own opinion first.
