It seems to me if I have a colony city of non state culture adjective to a city(or colony city) of state culture, then that colony will eventually turn into state culture.

Can anyone verify this?

No, that is not correct. A colonial city turns to your state culture if the population is less than 5000, the current culture is different than the default culture for the province in the scenario files (basically all non-European provinces not colonized at the start of the 1419 scenario can change culture), and nationalism must not exist in the province.

So the nationalism thingy would be why defected colonies automaticly convert to my state culture?

Does it matter if its in europe or just if it wasnt colonized by start of 1419.

It can't be an european province iirc, and it must have changed culture (uncolonised provs have <Indian or smething like that> culture and gets the colonisers culture, same with converted pagans)

And yes, that's why defecting colonies change culture immidiatly.

EDIT: btw side question doesnt 0 aggression mean there is no chance of them attacking you?

Narvik needs to be at 5000 or more population first, and yes, 0 aggressiveness means they won't attack you.

I think it does just have a very low chance of happening - particularly when you place a colonist.

Mind you I have had maximum aggression natives only rise up once in building a city so it is quite random.

In recent versions, zero aggression natives will now rarely attack armies stopping in or moving through a province. However, zero aggressive natives do not cause any harm to colonies or trade posts other than that they occupy them for a time until you return to recapture the provinces. Also, zero aggressive natives do not rise up spontaneously to attack a colony nor do they rise up at the placement of a colonist.
