Obviously, my best shot at colonizing, say, Madagascar is to use my army to kill the 9000 Natives in each province. But it would be awesome if I could get to 1000 colonists and thus assimilate all 9000 natives into the population, making a province of 10k. Has anyone been able to do this? When the natives attack, I think up to 900 colonists are lost, so even just 1 attack will erase the colony.

Too risky. I always wiped out any natives with aggressiveness > 3.

Exactly what I do.

Also the more aggressive the natives the bigger penalty your colony gets to anual growth, and I much rather the colony to get to 1K faster so it starts to pay for itself. Specially if you plan on doing some massive colonizing (Spain, Portugal, England)

Besides RNG is a mean mistress and I don't want to risk losing the colony, and the investment both in ducats and time to a random native attack.

I'm very glad that the kings of Europe didn't act like I do in EU3, I exterminate any and all natives in areas I plan to colonize. When you plan to colonize widely (France, Spain, England, maybe even the Italians or Dutch) it becomes more practical to raise your chances to 99% and not waste settlers.

What if you're actually on the same continent though? Of course you won't keep the Agg 9 natives of Sudan, Madagascar, the grey part of west Africa and the great plains, but what about, say, Taiwan? As an east asian, you won't have many colonists, and it has agg 5 (I think), which is risky. But there is a difference between 1000 and 6000 (or was it even 7000?) inhabitants when the colony finishes...

Does this really happen? Do all natives become citizens when the colony turns city?

sometimes they attack , sometimes they don't ... I can let them live if they are not too many or too ferocious.
