England, GC, 1.09 vanilla, ~1650
This is from the colonization faq for 1.08:
Factors NOT affecting Colonization Success:
....
9. Your own nations army in province without a Conquistador, Before or after first colony is established.
I wanted to confirm that this was still true for 1.09. The reason I ask, is that I find this is not the case at all. Nearly all of colonies expand more rapidly and successfully when I place a 2000 man, 10 gun army (number vary) in the province i'm trying to colonize, regardless of conquistador presence. In fact, so much so, that I've gotten to a point where I'll only send colonists to provinces that I have military troops in. This has occurred in the Indian provinces I've colonized (Goa, Bombay, Pondcherry, Kerala and the other three on the southern tip), the Australian (all along the SE coast), the American (entire east coast and Sierra Madre out west) and the African (Guinea, Karoo, etc.) Am I just percieving a random effect where there is none, or has anybody else noticed this as well?
BTW, I'm still a relative noob at this game, but have become completely hooked, thank you to everybody who convinced me to buy it, then talked me through the first 50-100 years of my England game that I'm still currently playing!
