I played EUIV 1.8 and notice that at the start of several campaign dates, only the parent nations are at war against one another, without the involvement of colonies.
For example, if you start the campaign at 1756 Seven Years War, GB, Austria are at war against France, etc. You will notice British colonies (Newfoundland, Thirteen Colonies, English West Indies) and French colonies (French Canada) are not involved in this Seven Years War. Is this bug or something? Previously in 1.7, I remember the colonies were involved in war.
Likewise at other campaign dates, for example during the Independence War of Spanish colonies like Mexico, Chile, Colombia during year 1811 and Napoleonic Wars, you will notice the Spanish colonies (Castilian Peru and Castilian La Plata) are neutral against the neighbouring countries and France. This was not the case in 1.7.
On the hand, if you declare war on other countries while in the middle of the game as GB, its colonies were dragged into war. So there is no problem with this.
Hence, the only problem is why the COLONIES WERE NOT INVOLVED IN WAR AT THE START of the campaign dates. Hopefully Paradox can answer this question. Or is this a bug?
