As the title says, shouldn't we get colonial regions in the Indian sub-continent and Oceania ?

I know the british "settled" there during late-game period but still, wouldn't it be nice to have at least 1-2 CNs now that india has gotten more provinces ?

Oceania too, would be nice to see some dutch/spanish CNs there...

I'm sorry is there a realist or historic example of europeans taking over parts of India and resettling europeans there while kicking out the native indians? Because I was of the understanding that it was mostly all done through secondary rule where the europeans mostly the english would force local rulers into submitting to them and protecting english interests while maintaining the local administration? You know something that is not at all colonization. Although probably closer to protectorates than the conquest most people use.

Also Australia is already a CN zone

There may be a way to create an African/Asian CN, although the method is a bit convoluted:

1. Create a CN in some highly contested region (e.g. Eastern North America).
2. Sell some provinces in Africa/Asia to your CN (I think this is still possible).
3. Contrive for your CN to lose all its original provinces (e.g. via war with another colonial power).

I think your CN should survive, with their capital in Africa/Asia. You can then continue to feed them your African/Asian provinces to bypass the colonial/overseas LA floor.

No, we should not.

Oceania: Already covered to an extent by Australia, the concept of a unified "colonial nation" cross thousands of miles of water is roughly as sensible as England having a CN in the steppes.

India: The problem with a CN in a location like this is that it doubles as a vassal that takes no relations slots and can project serious, same-continent military to anywhere in the old world by marching there. The existence of such a thing would require unique and arbitrary AI logic bordering on the absurd or rapidly turn into a FOO strategy for anybody in western Europe who could reach it.

i think that trade companies' provinces should get an unrest bonus though (if they don't already, it's been a while since i checked), to simulate the fact that they did have their own troops and some kind of management of the regions they controlled?

Australian CN remains one of the poorest design decisions made so far. Even if they now bother to boat to fight their rebels (haven't tested on 1.8), they still don't have other CNs to fight. They just sit there.

You can tariff them like crazy at least, but that area is pretty low value regardless of what you do with it, unless you're Malaya fishing for more trade I guess.
