Hello! I have two reactions/suggestions to the colonial behaviour in 1.8.
1)
When a colony declares war on another colony, then you automatically get dragged in to the war if the colonial overlord of the other nation tries to enforce peace. I wish you could decide wether you would join the war or not.
As Netherlands, my Dutch Brazil dragged me into a war against France, when France intervened in the Dutch Brazilian war. This bankrupted me and gave me a crazy war exhaustion that increased the other colonies desire for liberty. I wish you could turn down either for a prestige hit, or a liberty increase in said colony (maybe only if the war ends in your colony defeated), or just a relations hit.
2) Another example from my Netherlands game where France annexed Spain and had a total of ca 6 colonial nations in the Americas. All of these colonies had a liberty desire of more than 70, and often one of them would try to break free (same happened with the UK, which leads me to believe they've boosted the chance of colonial nations breaking free in 1.8). What is weird is how a nation declares independence, looses to France and its other colonies. Then one of the colonies that helped defeat said colony itself declares freedom afterwards. I rather wish that once one colony declared independence, other colonies belonging to the nation with a liberty desire of over 70 (?) would also declare independence. In SA, I believe that IRL most of Spains South American colonies broke free in a wave of rebellions in the same time period. It would be cooler if colonies with a high liberty desire rather opted to declare independence that aid in a war against a natural friend which wants to break free from the overlord.
Do you guys agree? What's your opinion on colonies in 1.8?
