US should get more immigrants than the other American countries, due to it's political system and higher standards of living, not because it is just the US.

Indeed. In a game once the USA had lost the CSA, California, Deseret, New England and the whole state of NY. It still had a population of over 100mil towards the end of the game and they were by no means a top 5 rank state through the majority of the game.

There isn't infinite expansion anymore. Also, worker POPs now gain their money from RGOs and factories, so if price of the good lowers (production increases and / or demand lowers), POPs get less money and seek new jobs.

Such a system will work best if prices are in free float. In Victoria 1 there was preset base price. In order prices to be truly in free float, the world market should serve as a market maker like in real commodity and stock exchanges, offering buy and sell prices. Its aim should be to keep liquidity high, by having enough money and goods to meet future demand.

What I'd like to see is for the receiving side of immigration to have some means to influence it. I played some rather successful games as the Boer states in Vicky 1, but even though I had access to the ocean, was a republic and had generally low taxes I was unable to attract any kind of immigrants. I mean, I controlled most of SA after 1860 and in 1900 I had less than seven million people. :(

It'd be nice if you were able to influence migration via tax rates, your political system, population density and maybe even more direct means like actually advertising immigration.

I think (hope?) that National focus will work that way. But given the lack of a colonialism / colonial migration DD it is possible they are still working on implementation. I also worry that encouraging immigration to say, New York and Pennsylvania might be more profitable than populating the West of the US. Perhaps the National Focus only effects internal immigration, and external migration is handled differently?

Since industrialization should be a costly endeavour, it may not be able to keep up with immigration and people would be forced to go westward.

Pennsylvania and New York actually did have a lot more people than most states in the midwest :)

It sounds interesting, but I'm not sure how realistic it would be. Germany, for example, had practucally zero migration to its colonies, except for South-west Africa which had some German migration. There were also areas of French colonies, such as the Sahara regions, that wouldn't have had any migration except for some adiministrators. And I believe Paradox said that they will simulate migration of bureaucrats to new territories (one of the earlier Developer Diaries??).

I had in V1 that i (germany) owned almost whole africa from namibia to chad. there where only germans in south west africa but when northern chad became under my control and i looked which lived there there were 90% germans and 10& natives, but why should they move to there? and not to zanzibar etc.? i think that has to be fixed, that nice area with enough water and good wheater will got more people from the motherland then in area's with no water and only sand. so german south west africa should become much more german then that chad becomes french etc.

I think the national focus mechanic should allow players to promote migration to their colonies - I'm looking forward to seeing how it works, and seeing bureucrats make my colonies profitable (or, well, less loss making at any rate)

German Southwest Africa was only sand and sun as well, much like Chad, and yet people came there... I think tieing immigration to "accessibility" (i.e. infrastructure and coastal status), to relative fill of the RGOs and to RGO profitability would make more sense. It would also let you influence the flow of immigration a little bit, if you invest heavily into infrastructure in some areas with sparse population, then they will become more attractive to immigrants. Namibia was very, very sparsely populated when the Germans took it, and got a lot of investment due to proximity to South Africa and its strategic location as a fleet base. East Africa on the other hand was more densely populated and AFAIK did not see as intense investment as South-West Africa for various reasons. (Intense compared to the number of people living there and the economic opportunities. South-West Africa was totally unprofitable for the government, but somehow they considered it nicer than East Africa.)

You can use national focus to promote migration to the colonies.

i tell you what would be awesome-if you could set what cultures you will and will not accept in certain colonies, or pay certain cultures to leave colonies and relocate to toher territories-i always wanted to send the dutch out of south africa, maybe to rhodesia, or encourage emmigration to india from Britain.

Infact it would be great if, as part of the crime policy, we could set the punishment for certain crimes, as `transportation` to designated colonies

I thought colonists are going to be handled as "canned goods" (produced by the Acme company, of course)?
