Sorry if this has been asked before (and I bet it has, if so please refer me there :) )

Has colonial migration been better implemented in this game than in the former one? Say, like Britons moving from the British Isles to Canada, Australia or whatever?

AFAIK, people will not move to other countries unless they are angry or there isn't any job in the homeland. Thus, jobless but otherwise happy British farmers should first move to British colonies instead of America.

You can also use National Focus to encourage people moving to certain states.

Like, I think I read that they had some state-sponsored migrations back in the day. Nothing too large scale, but something that perhaps a country could expand upon a-historically (and thus gain colonial migration)?

They have a national focus feature, I would not be surprised if that would allow you to focus on populating colonies.

Its purely for flavour but Id like to see migration 'for the adventure' (for want of a better expression) included in the game, as well as migration 'for the new job/business opportunities.'

Id like to see in V2, if you form a new colony a broad sweep of POPs moving there, perhaps not in great numbers but enough to give that idea that the mother country is taking an interest in her dependencies.

A small amount of Aristocrats/Capis/upper class- to represent those who move because they are wealthy enough to do it/want to invest in new overseas schemes etc, the working classes as usual for obvious reasons and a few soldier POPs to simulate an officer cadre/regulars being sent to form/develop native troops.

I suppose workers from the colonies (again in small numbers) coming to the motherland would be cool-to simulate the importation of cheap labour (this could come with benefits/costs attached). This could also be modified by citizenship policy, ie its not so much of a problem if you operate a 'give me your tired, poor' etc immigration policy.

I enjoyed seeing a variety of POPs in places in V1, made the game seem more 'real'.

They (Paradox) talked about a new feature called "national focus," that you could use on a specific province or state I think thyat would encourage migration there. It sounds like it can be used to effectively create realistic migrations to the colonies.

If you'd like specifics, just search the Developer Diary list (its stickied), and look for something like "National Focus" or "Migartion."

It sounds interesting, but I'm not sure how realistic it would be. Germany, for example, had practucally zero migration to its colonies, except for South-west Africa which had some German migration. There were also areas of French colonies, such as the Sahara regions, that wouldn't have had any migration except for some adiministrators. And I believe Paradox said that they will simulate migration of bureaucrats to new territories (one of the earlier Developer Diaries??).

I do recall reading in a V2 screenshot that there were three types of migration. Internal, External and Colonial.
So it seems to have its own mechanic at least.

I think Vicky 1 was really European Biased in terms of migrations, only Europeans could have POPs migrating to the other continents, why couldn't my USA do some colonization if I wanted? (to turn my colonies states) Or my Japan is eager to colonize the Africa/Oceania as well.

So, every USA game the best option is to sit still in America, receive crazy immigrants, and expand factories like mad - I am bored.

(though, if you could migrate your POPs to the other continents as US in V1, the horrible assimilation power...)

but it needs to be at least rather large for australia as there was a massive amount of migrations from europe in general to australia more so than America in the 19th and 20th centuries. And still today I know for a fact that at least a quarter of the my grade level at school was born in england.

You are saying that during 19th and 20th centuries Australia got more immigration than America?

The problem with Japan and the USA not getting any migration to their colonies in vicky 1 was because Japanese and American POPs were 'short-ranged': that was something that could actually be edited, if you wanted to do it.

The problem with Vicky 1, I always thought, were the blanket rules: i.e. No immigration to Europe, massive immigration to the USA, a bit of immigration to gold producing provinces, and immigration possible-but-unlikely everywhere else.

If this aspect of the game is moddable in Vicky 2, I'll be a very, very happy man.

Wrong, it is not about short rangeness.

It is hardcoded that, if your capital is not in Europe, immigrants would only go to the provinces of your own continent (even internal migration don't allow POPs to move to provinces in the other continents), no exceptions.

I would be very disappointed if there are migration multipliers for different continents.
The influx of immigrants to the Americas should be driven by game mechanics. Major problem in Victoria 1 was the infinite expansion of RGOs and the lack of diminishing returns.
If I am living poorly in Europe and knowing there are a lot of money to be made across the ocean, I will not sit and wait until I start dying from hunger.
US should get more immigrants than the other American countries, due to it's political system and higher standards of living, not because it is just the US. If Russia turns into a free and democratic society early in the game and people are having way better life there, with it's vast lands and resources, it should also receive immigrants.

hmm yes i more so due to the growth percentage increase. In 1800 there were probably (not certain so dont quote me on this, this is a rough guess) about as many europeans in australia as there were in about early 1500s in america and by the end of the vicky era there were about as many non-aborigine australians as there were european americas in about late 1600s to early 1700s.
so when vicky starts the australian population is roughly a couple hundred and in 1936 it is over 7,000

There isn't infinite expansion anymore. Also, worker POPs now gain their money from RGOs and factories, so if price of the good lowers (production increases and / or demand lowers), POPs get less money and seek new jobs.
