@ Yoda : is it possible to decide where a general arrive ?
Yes it is possible to add the line :
location = XXX

But to be valid, you need a naval unit or army in the province otherwise the leader will be locate in a random province.

I once played a game as Flanders (released them as Burgundy and reloaded). Imagine my surprise when I got a movement 6 (same as columbus and magelan) explorer. This is a bit OT, but I think the Flanders leaderfile should be seriously reexamined.

Most of their leaders have a date after the apparition of the Netherlands, so they are a bit "fantasy".

BTW do any of you guys know much about Spanish colonial history, I know a bit I'll probably need some help on it.

So for the The Fall of Huronia event. The problem with this event is while it's VERY important, it requires a better Iroquois AI. After the arrival of the Duth the Iroquois AI should change into an agressive, colonist and expansionist state to represent the Iroquois Confederacy's rapid spread of power by annihilating neighbouring tribes and repopulating the area with Iroquois to gain dominance in the fur trade.

The event should fire at random if the Iroquois capture the Huron capital. When it fires the Huron get a Fall of Huronia event and can either choose to keep fighting or choose the historical option of fleeing to the French, this should boost the population of Stadacone and Hochelega and France get's the northern part of the Huron while the Iroquois get the southern half (err... I actually play AGCEEP so I don't remember if the Iroquois have the same culture or not, it should change to Iroquois though if it isn't the same culture)

i agree but it's complicated to see the results of all these modifications for the situation in north america

I'm not good with modifyign AI files, the only thing I've ever done with them is stopping England from ahistorical colonisation of Acadia... that reminds me, we should work on the French AI colonisation pattern so it colonised the areas where it's supposed to.

For information, the number of explorer and conquistador per country :
Code:
Country	Nb
SPA	37
POR	31
RUS	23
HOL	21
FRA	19
ENG	18
FLA	13
DAN	3
USA	3
WLS	2
ARG	2
CHI	2
KUR	2
POL	2
MOS	1
OHI	1
SWE	1
TUR	1
ANN	1
This number is relative because of the duration of each explorer or conquistador and the time when they come (in 1440 you can't discover as much as in 1750)
FLA + HOL = 34
It semms very important when ENG = 18 only

Not if you specify a province there is already an army.
Otherwise, they arrive with 1000 infanteries or 3 warships.
So it's better to give them some soldiers or boats in the same province.

1000 infanteries or 500 cavaleries, isn't ?

Hey, would any of you happen to know of a Norman slave trader named Thomas Aubert? In 1508 and sailed up the St. Lawrence River to be the first recorded to discover Quebec, and returned with native slaves apparently. And deos anybody know about the founding of Baie de Vieux Fort on Newfoundland established in 1504 by French Basques, Bretons and Normans?

This site looks very interesting

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/dgarneau/french.htm

And should we call Giovanni da Verrazano 'Jean Verazan'? The Spanish have Columbus as Cristóbal Colón. Of course now we call da Verrazano by his Italian name but wouldn't keeping it be anachronistic given that at the time, translating names was very common?

i think we schould call him Giovanni ! in all the books of history in french i have seen the name in italian

At the time though in France he would be called 'Jean Verazan', nowadays we call him da Verrazano but François I, would have known him as 'Jean Verazan'.

i don't know how to (?) work with the AI files but i'm ready to help you on the historical areas of french colonisation

I don't know either :D But some things need to be made clear for early colonisation, France should try to colonise Maine (Ile Saint-Croix) along with Labrador, England should not colonise Acadia, Newfoundland should be contested between the two. France should try to colonise northern Brazil (and the Huguenots should try to colonise Southern Brazil and Florida), if the Huguenots do not exist then France should have a go at these places as well. The problem is that France never sends enough colonists, they barely get past Ontario, let alone eventually all the way down to Louisiane.

have you seen the events on the page before ?

I just found the page, it's very long so I haven't really gotten a chance to rad it all, and the page is rather indepth... a tad too indepth but it could be useful nonetheless

And should we call Giovanni da Verrazano 'Jean Verazan'? The Spanish have Columbus as Cristóbal Colón. Of course now we call da Verrazano by his Italian name but wouldn't keeping it be anachronistic given that at the time, translating names was very common?

I disagree, I think all leaders should keep their given/birth names,

One reason, is that , later in time some other modder will not know who is Jean Verazan and will introduce Giovanni da Verrazano.

Besides, the french, spanish and portuguese have a tendency to translating names of leaders so they can gain "false" national credit for their discoveries/victories, its purely national propaganda.

columbus should be changed to Columbo.

Well what AGCEEP needs is some sort of standardisation of leader names, either we go with adopted names (ie. Cristóbal Colón) or original names (ie. Cristoforo Colombo). Has this topic every been brought up?

BTW does anybody know anybody who could help us with the AI thing?
