Is it something hardwired (ex : in 1618, France will get a CD of 1) or is a variable calculated with others things (I don't known, the number of colonies, of shipyards...)

Also, in my current games, one of my colonies growed out without sending colonists ! I'm not complaining at all, but how make this phenomenon repeat itself in others colonies ?

#1. I believe cd is hardcoded. Portugal gets it earlier then England, as an example. once your CD runs out you only have your religion and shipyard bonusses.

#2. All colonies have a growth rate, sometimes it is negative sometimes it is positive. I would guess the growthrate in that colony was positive. ;)
High stability will help in that area.

Colonial Dynamism is a random event that can happen after 1500.

You may see considerable growth to a colony if the natives are absorbed into the colony. Natives are absorbed when a colony's population exceeds 900.

EDIT: Oops, I thought I was in the EU2 forum. My post is valid for EU2.

Grumble grumble grumble... EUII forum, pah!

In EUI, it is hardcoded, and you can get the colonial dynamism event that gives you 3 colonists, a conquistador and some men, and I think it gives you 3 ships but I'm not sure.

Colonial dynamism is NOT hardcoded. The values can be found in colonist.csv and trader.csv located in the db folder in the root EU directory. The values can be changed, new countries can be given historical colonial dynamism, and countries can be taken out all together.

And I think you can get much more that 3 if you want to code it that way.

Although if you don't code anything and are a complete nobody w/o religion or shipyard you'll get three colonists over the course of the grand campaign :D (or 2.99999)

Eh, that's what I meant.
