Don't you think you will get it faster if you order directly from Paradox? What I remember my Diplomacy arrived earlier than release date when I pre-ordered it, and webhallen would not probaly send out things too soon before release.

Collector Edition owners will receive exclusive access to additional in-game content (that's right!), extra interaction with the developers in the Collectors Edition section (as a complement to this general forum), first dibs on beta testing any new updates, have direct influence over upcoming features etc etc....

I'd suggest keeping an extra eye out for when pre-orders open as we will have a limited stock of these ones :p

Kind regards

whew, I really must have missed something when my Professor teached Marketing :D
Shouldn't the idea be to make ALL Customers happy with the products they buy ? I can't see right now how this should work in this case.

1. Additional in-game content
Two Possibilties, either it's not worth to be mentioned or it's helpful and in this case every owner of the standard version will have to suffer in MP-Matches. One or the other side will be mad, if Paradox thinks they found a solution it would be wise to bring some details soon.

2. Extra interaction with the developers & direct influence over upcoming features
Well what could that be ? If there are bugs, problems and so on they can't answer only the minority.
The wishes of all players usually show in the same mainstream direction - so there is no difference in listening to the comments. A Collector-Edition-Customer with semioptimal ideas will never have more influence than the large mass of Standard-Customers, the others are already mainstream so no point in that reason.

3. First dibs on beta testing any new updates
The only reason left to buy a CE and in this case it could even make sense :)

So please leave us some more informations, I don't pay 50% more just because I liked most of the Paradox Games. Whatever someone decides to buy, it should be transparent what they receive and that surely isn't the case yet.

I think that the in game content will be extra flags/shield. Maybe a different looking interface. Nothing that will make the game unplayable in mp.

50%? IIRC the standard version is 40€ and CE is 50€.

I just took this number from a previous post. But when I check the prizes at http://www.okaysoft.de/ for example:

Europa Universalis 3 deutsche Version 36,90€
Europa Universalis 3 Limited Edition deutsche Version 52,90€

That is 43% more for the CE

Nobody is forcing you to buy the CE.
You have a choice.
The advantages to buying the CE are fairly clear. Effectively however you will be buying the same game.

I have a choice ? Darn, why didn't anyone tell me ? :D
My point is that Paradox should leave some more Details on which I can base my choice / decision. Right now the differences are as clear as the story of a "The X Files" episode ;)

You must have. Offering "deluxe" packages or additional extras for an increased price has been a standard sales technique, even if we limit ourselves to the games industry, for years now. Typically most big games will go through a couple of versions during their lifecycle but those with established fanbases (think NWN here) tend to start out with Limited or Collector's editions from first release. It makes perfect sense economics wise.

Shouldn't the idea be to make ALL Customers happy with the products they buy ? I can't see right now how this should work in this case.
The only way to make all customers happy would be to release great products for free ;)

This way Paradox gives you the choice as to what you wish to buy. You can get the extra content for a higher price or simply buy the standard game. Would you prefer that Paradox simply bundled the extras with every game and charged everyone the CE price?

I'm betting on extra music. More flags would be kind of useless without more countries.

Well, I guess there will be a flag request thread later on, just like to any other paradox game, so I don't see what use this would have after some months.

While in general I think it's a good idea, and this could very well be the only game I buy next year, I still won't buy the CE. The reason is that the normal edition should include all important things and the fancy bonus isn't worth 15€ for me.

Are you on Drugs? You have no information to go on and yet you are claiming that the collectors edition is not providing anything of value. You claim the in-game content is either unfair or usless. HOW can you evaluate something with out knowing what it is you are evaluating? Its one of the dumbest things I've seen. Ever heard of conent that is usable in single player and not multi-player? You should it a hugely common feature in computer games.

Many people would be willing to pay for the advantage of communicating with the developers to give them input into any future development of the game. The fact that you place it as of no advantage or value is rather telling. Its telling that you have no ability to see the value of something that others may value. I personally dont see this as something I would pay for but that doesnt mean it has no value to other people. In other words get over yourself. Why dont you just wait to see what the collectors edition is before you attack its value? And its not like you need to know whats in the CE now well over a month closer to two months away from release.

Oh calm down dude. You said it pretty correct: I have no Information, if you'd read carefully what i said before you'd know that this is just my point.
In case of missing informations humans tend do use reasonable imagination, what I did with my posting. If you don't totaly agree with me that is ok, it doesn't change the fact that I might be right as long as Paradox doesn't clear the facts what you receive for your money. And there is nothing wrong with the request for more informations.

Besides, you just broke the Forum Rules 3&4:
# You will at all times respect and refrain from harassing and/or personally attacking other users or Paradox staff.
# You will respect the rights of other users to have their own opinions.
;)
