Having a strange common sense game playing as designer nation Hornsby (my suburb) as a Northern Italian Dukedom where the Ottomans have been reduced to three provinces and France got beat up a couple of time .. I went to number one by default.. I've seen France beat up once before, but the Ottomans losing prime chunks of their territory to Genoa is interesting to say the least. I have been meddling shamelessly in the Balkans needless to say, but does this majors collapse thing happen often now or is it all part of the designer nation scene? And how come Catholic Austria has joined the protestant league or did I miss something?

Also, I seem to be still a Dukedom but I don't wish to form Italy.. can I turn king by changing government forms .. I would also like to declare my own empire outside the HRE, but I don't suppose the game allows that..

France seems to get beaten up quite often now, it depends how those initial AI rivals/alliances fall really. But long term, unless the player moves into the territory, then usually Burgundy forms France again and it's back to being all powerful.

I've not seen the Ottomans collapse in 1.12 yet and I can't imagine how that would happen either, without player involvement. If you've been beating them in wars that might be it, the Ottomans do get a mission to take Wein for a quick Westernisation, but I don't know whether the AI makes a lot of effort to get it. In my last few games they've been happy to play how they always have, going south and east.

I think this new patch brough us new scenari. It's cool to see the 2 blob falling. We all knew that france is unbeatable if the player don't involve in. It's not interesting to know that bbb is so strong but not "enough" to blob everywhere. But i think there a huge lost since patch 1.12 , the hundread year war isn't trigger and don't exist anymore (it's a mission wich is never used !)

Okay thanks for that last comment - I owe an apology. In fact you can promote yourself to King and then emperor, albeit outside the HRE. There is a button just under the king symbol which you can click if you've left the HRE and your prestige is greater than 50.. King, then emperor.. okay, an empire, I always wanted an empire..
