So, playing as Japan, I got 100% collaboration in China. Its on an unhistorical, so Yunan took over the Chinese, then China once more took back control. I checked back in my collaboration and... all of it is gone.

Is that intended...?

The china that you saw pop-up again is just a cosmetic tag which is applied to the warlord when/if they take power so, in essence, they're still Yunnan

So basically as Japan, if playing on unhistorical, don't even bother with trying to raise compliance because it'll just be obliterated and all that effort goes for nothing.

Don't see how this can reasonably be described as intended. Same province held by same government + same ideology having a decrease in compliance without it coming from a rough occupation policy or province changing hands is either a bug or dishonesty.

I've only seen one example of the latter in HOI 4, when it was concluded WAD that Curacao isn't in the Caribbean for the purposes of an achievement requiring a Caribbean island.

I believe so, though in the game rules you might be able to set the warlords to not try and take over the government? I can't really remember

I was going for achievments during that game. The main achievment being the Sunrise Invasion, which of course I failed at doing anyway that game, but it still bugged me that my efforts are raising compliance in China was useless. That was alot of construction time wasted since I didn't have the civ factories to construct buildings during these. :/

I'd just set it to historical then, for me, personally, I can't not use historical for ironman runs, it's too random xD Worth noting that historical will obviously not allow for the warlords to take power as well :)

Yea I'm aware, I just like the nonhistorical goofiness that goes on. Plus, since I -was- pressed for time to do certain things, I needed it on unhistorical so Germany would be a tad slower on going to war with the Allies and also hoped that he would struggle to do something until I arrived.

See, I was going for the Sunrise invasion and at first, the plan was to take China and then go for the USA with a naval invasion. Well, Mexico ended up joining the Allies and I had figured that was a perfect opportunity for an -easy- achievement. I would go to war with the Allies and without the USA involved, I could take over Mexico with an annexation, and since I did that -first- in the pace deal, I could start taking chunks of European land and boom, achievment. Of course, I could also be mistaken on how the achievment exactly works because it's never 100% clear what constitutes as annexation. Lol.

But yea, the plan was to do that, but it derailed because I forgot about the allies always changing their majors around. British Raj became a major of the allies rather quickly, though I think it was my fault, and then AUSTRALIA of all things became a major, which of course is absolutely silly.

Then half way through taking the British Raj, without any provocation, USA joined the allies so that game ended a wash. I'll try again sometime, but I wont bother with spies anymore. Spies are just worth it as Germany cause you have the civ factories to do it. Japan... not so much.

but yea, I was hoping if I defeated the allies, I'd take Mexico first during the peace deal and that would count towards the Mexico being annexed first. And then I could start t aking british and french land, but knowing my luck they would require you to have seperate peace deals, which of course would be silly as it's not in the text you HAVE to do that.

rather unfortunate, one of the many reasons I'm taking a break from ironman is just the little stuff that causes a lot of problems in the long run and is extremely frustrating haha
