nomonhan,

no volunteer here for alt history leaders but i think you should ask for a subforum here (in case you intend to stay) or at DH forums. there you can ask for eg country/timeframe/situation/leader - ministers (eg 36-45/pro german ukraine/leaders) and volunteers will probably show up.

just searching leaders/ministers for UKR isnt enough IMO as everything depends on the situation this country is in (eg vanilla UKR combines SOV, POL, and german leaders and politicians which are all real - its just completely de-contextualized).

as for AZB leaders this is a weird combination of turkish, german and soviet leaders and as there was no AZB historically i doubt you'll find a satisfying amount of persons for whatever timeframe.

just in case you have problems to ID people - i cant promise anything but i do have a huge collection for many nations from HoI1 times, so i might have a few you're searching for.

EDIT: the most annoying thing is that leaders do not dissapear anyway. so either you wait until this is fixed by AoD devs, or you can write tons of sleep leader events.

I have found in a disturbing number of cases that all google searches for particular ministers lead to paradox forums, which could mean a number of things:
1) the name is slightly misspelled or alternately transliterated.
2) the person is from an obscure book
But it can also mean that the leader was totally made up--in view of the fact that in multiple cases I've noticed World War 1 people who die before 1936 being passed off as people available in 1936. I'm sorry but there's only one word for that and that is FRAUD. In view of the fact that there is known fraud, I do not accept the veracity of ANYBODY unless it can be verified. Now I'm not going to go to the trouble of say determining the veracity of Transural leaders since it is a fantasy state anyway, or the African states but in the communist bloc which is critical to my modding efforts I think reasonable accuracy is a must. I'm also becoming a stickler on knowing the death dates (at least the year), so they can be put in the comments section for later writing of mass death events to remove them from the game at appropriate times. You've claimed that "all the leaders are real". When 0.19 comes out you'll find many leaders from the 4 aforementioned countries removed due to verification issues. If all searches point to paradox forums and I cannot figure out a possible alternate spelling of the name I'm going to assume fraud until proven otherwise and remove that individual. If you can supply documentation that they are indeed real I will be happy to put them back in.

I'm generally leaving in the "decontextualized" people, unless suitable replacements can be found.

Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine were all very real states from 1918-1921. Ukraine was a bit more complex with the various factions, and I'm even modeling 2 states (Communist Ukraine and regular Ukraine) to simulate the difficulty the USSR had in establishing control. And with if we admit the possibility of Trotsky in control I think the possibility of them being launched as independent satellite countries but still communist needs to be considered.

@TJ Arnold
In vanilla the Arabs are way too strong. However in my Cold War scenario I actually have trouble keeping the Israelis from winning too easily in 1948-9. The Arabs win against Israel only if one or more of the Arab states (hopefully Egypt) takes the ahistorical step of open intervention rather than just sending volunteers. Yes they declared war but did not prosecute the war with the full resources of their respective nations as the Israelis did. So the 48-49 war is modded as strictly Israel vs. Palestine with intervention events. Israeli forces are qualitatively superior to the Arabs even though there are more Arab divisions. Sorry the 56 events are not ready yet. Due to work on finishing the tech tree and the wait for a reasonably bug-free AOD (I think 106B3 may be the trick) and other priorities that is not ready yet. My basic approach to Israel will be to mod it as the only country in the world with a true war economy in the cold war era, and some hefty research and money bonuses, representing external support.

yes of course they are. they're just not the ones they pretend to be
:D sometimes PI took some random pics from the internet and gave them a historical name (eg some german austrians) or doubled one person.

otherwise the germans are everywhere (eg chinese cliques) easy to spot if you look at the uniforms. as for locals, well i'm not sure if eg Georgia is possible to mod.

am i right that your plan is to cover the timeframe from 1919 - 1990? in this case you'll need thousands of new leaders.

I've raised the topic a few times before.

As soon as the first Viet Nam war starts (the one between France and Comm Vie) Saudi-Arabia decides to declare war and almost start world war three.

Skimming trough the ai files I notice the line Protect = Fra Value = 300 in SAU ai file. I believe that, although France is not in allies in that war, the ai is ordered to protect France and declare war. Looking trough the AI files, i believe it is the case for every Allied nation.

In my game Turkey was in comintern and totalitarian communist, and they also declared war on Comm Vie. (cheated a little to get out of that war, but that is beside the point)

So as I let them duke it out between each other (Ho chi minh versus the world) while I aided them with exp. forces they have managed to capture Saigon and annex the NAT VIE. If I am not mistaken, as soon as that happened in the biggest Vietnam War (the real 'nam) everybody fighting with Nat chi retreated from Viet Nam and let Ho Chi Minh be the victor.

Bacause of that I wrote an event to make it end the war, as Comm Vie has won.

Code:
event = {
	id = 470000
	random = no
	country = U72

	trigger = {
			war = { country = U72 country = SAU }

			AND = {
			control = { province = 1337 data = u72 }
			}

			AND = {
				NOT = { exists = VIE }
				NOT = {	exists = IDC }
			}
		}

	date = { day = 1 month = 1 year = 1955 }
	offset = 7
	deathdate = { day= 30 month = 12 year = 2025 }

	name = "Ho Chi Minh marches into Saigon"
	desc = " We have captured the enemy's capital. Their spirit has been broken and we are victorious" However, we still remain at war with their allies. Shall we seek for peace?"

	action_a = {
		name = "Yes"
		ai_chance = 95
		command = { type = peace which = USA }
		command = { type = peace which = SAU }
		command = { type = peace which = FRA }
		command = { type = peace which = ENG }

		command = { type = peace which = NET }
		}
	action_b = {

		ai_chance = 5
		command = { type = dissent value = 10 }
	}
}

Problem is, it isn't working, the game fails to load when I have this one active and I can't find the error in the code. Perhaps you can?

Also, I noticed there is no reunification event for Germany. As USSR I couped FGR into a communist state and hoped they would unify with DDR. As it didn't happen I wrote an event to have DDR annex FGR when FGR is commie (as most probably would have happend in the highly unlikely event it happened in our Timeline) Also wrote an event for FGR to Annex DDR if DDR = Democracy

I'm working on a small event chain that starts a few revolts when DDR annexes FGR, because I don't think the FGR citizens are very happy to become DDR citizens. No revolt for FGR annex DDR, since IRL they where more than happy to rejoin with FGR.

If you are interested in said events, I will post them here.

The annexation events make total sense actually. That or something like it should be included. In fact while were on mid/late CW ideas, I was going to propose, for AoD CWE .21+, porting MDS 1.5/1.6 2003 campaign - if their team allows it to CWE. That way we get a very quick heads up on tech/minister/ORBAT/leader/country etc files. Tech # & model #s would have to be modified but overall a relatively easy start on a XXI century scenario could be made!

That sounds truly amazing. Hmm, perhaps I'm just playing as them wrong, I always end up in a stalemate with Palestine. After that war, the alliance with the Allies does make it a little easier, I'll give you that, for any Arab declaration of war results in (at least in my game) a quick annexation by Italy. Though, where's the fun in that? We must take the Holy Land! ;)
I'm thinking of adding events similar to the Dutch in Indonesia where, when war sparks, the alliance is temporarily broken with the Allies to reflect the historic views on the troubles in that territory, and when it's done an event puts them back in.

In regards to that, in a War what determine who gets land that is captured by an ally? I always thought it was an alliance leader, but sometimes an independent nation is also able to get the land (hence, Italy). Is it by total IC? For, it seems a smaller nation never can capture territories in a war (one of my only complaints about AoD).

The famine, which killed an estimated 5 million, affected mostly the Volga-Ural region. The famine resulted from the combined effect of the disruption of the agricultural production, which already started during World War I and continued through the disturbances of the Russian Revolution of 1917 and Russian Civil War with its policy of War Communism, especially prodrazvyorstka. One of Russia's intermittent droughts that happened in 1921 aggravated the situation to the level of the national catastrophe. In many cases recklessness of local administration, which recognized the problems only too late, contributed to the problem. Hunger was so severe that it was doubtful that seed-grain would be sown rather than eaten. At one point, relief agencies had to give grain to the railroad staff to get their supplies moved. Peasants often had to resort to eating weeds, food surrogates and even cannibalism trying to save seeds for planting in the fall."

A severe famine resulted from the drought. The famine was made worse by the China-Japan war which was being fought at this time. Farmers watched in disbelief as the rivers that bring water used for growing rice slowly dried. Crops failed and there was widespread shortage of drinking water. yes of course they are. they're just not the ones they pretend to be
:D sometimes PI took some random pics from the internet and gave them a historical name (eg some german austrians) or doubled one person.

otherwise the germans are everywhere (eg chinese cliques) easy to spot if you look at the uniforms. as for locals, well i'm not sure if eg Georgia is possible to mod.

am i right that your plan is to cover the timeframe from 1919 - 1990? in this case you'll need thousands of new leaders.
So now you're saying I can't trust the pictures either. D#MN! more work for me.
Yes I was successful in modding Georgia already. As it is the homeland of Stalin there's plenty of information available.
Ukraine is a real nightmare. About one third of the people are unverifiable, and some I believe are inappropriate (e. g. Vlassov is already assigned to Russia and should only be assigned to them). I was able to find some real people for the communist ministers from www.generals.dk and from world statesmen/portale storia, etc. Also added some people who were involved in Reichskommissariat Ukraine, and govt-in exile leaders. For Georgia added some Waffen SS people, Germans who promoted the idea, etc.

OK who are these people? searches for these people all came up empty except as noted

I have a problem with your mod , i have install cold war mod on aod 1.6 bêta 3 and i have a bug , a lot ic 6000 for france ect... why ?
Simple, AOD CWE 0.18 is 1.06 B1 or B2 compatible (b2 with changes found on page 50 of this forum)

CWE 0.19 should come out in several days hopefully & be fully 1.06B3 compatible

OK who are these people? searches for these people all came up empty except as noted

dont know. looking at the pics (and uniforms) should give hints sometimes. in general for the russians searching in cyrillic (if available) prooved to work in some cases. maybe ask Amallric, he'll be able to google those guys if they're real.

as for UKR/BLR etc i dont think you need the LWR/ST - leaders/ministers as an ST UKR would be part of SOV anyway.

as for Victor Malcev

@bestmajor,
Thanks for the info on the three people. They'll be restored, as will a few others I found on Polish wikipedia. I think that's all the main ones and the rest are likely to be either "assigned" or fake, and assigned ministers (a known HOI practice since the days of HOI1) IMO should be used only as a last resort. Since I'll need additional ministers for the 1950-2000+ period, I'd just as soon get rid of the dead wood of fake or possibly fake ministers. I do intend to have communist ministers for the following reasons:
1) In the 1919-30 time period, the possibility that Trotsky, not Stalin, wins the power struggle has to be factored in. I believe Trotsky would have MORE difficulty than Stalin in keeping the rebellious nationalities from seceding.
2) In case there is no valid living minister from a particular time period from another ideology, the communists can serve as backup, at least for the military roles, as many military people are simply professionals who obey any government that's clearly in control.
3) The countries might be released by Communist-somebody else, like China, Japan or Commune of France

I have removed the names that I've resolved but there are still 27 names left. Sorry to take this attitude but in view of the number of fraudulent minister practices I'm aware of I have no choice.

@ alan12;

You can use the code that nomonhan posted on page 60. put it in a text file called misc.txt, 1st apply the patch 1.06b3, then apply the mod, then place the misc.txt file in the "db" directory and overwrite the original.

Use the misc.txt file on THIS PAGE (60)

@bestmajor
Pilipenko changed to LE 1941 start. I would not want him fighting against the Soviets in WW2 as he was a war hero for them. However I see him as reasonable in case the USSR falls apart early and there is no other available minister. I already have 1918 and 1930 LE coverage.

Zhilenkov--is already HOG for Russia. I believe the misspelling was intentional and designed to confuse people. However will restore with the spelling corrected to make it clear that it's the same person. May be deleted later if another person can be found. Only restoring for chief of army.

Osmak--restored with the corrected spelling (2 Ls) so that the Kaiserreich ministers no longer come up first in the search results. Kyrylo Osmak turned up on Polish wikipedia. I'm assuming they're the same person. added an additional ministry as 1918 minister of intelligence. changed start date to 1918.

Yuri Lipa--thanks for the bio info. Will not use due to 1923 death (inappropriate for 1936, not needed for 1918) A perfect example of the need for my policy.

Vasyl Sydor-restored with the corrected spelling and elimination of the hyphenated second part of the name, which is probably fraudulent, and designed to create a new false identity. The existing picture exactly matches the one on wikipedia so will be kept.

Klyachivsky--restored with your corrected spelling

Leonid Skoropadsky. I know about Pavlo Skoropadsky. I consider this to be the cloning of a real person with a fake new first name. He will not be restored. I've added Pavlo Skoropadsky already as a 1918 HOS.

I'm still going through the list of known OUN people and will probably assign some of them to cover missing ministries.

@Lord Fearless I don't have an event for German reunification if DDR is not communist. The reason is that I'm adding real SD ministers, of which there are plenty. The possibility of a separate democratic DDR has to be considered in case the Soviets are wiped out and the Western Allies decide upon a Morgenthau Plan for Germany. Reunification has to come later in a late Cold War context. The solution to your Saudi problem will probably lie in an edited SAU ai file. I'll have a new Saudi 1945 ai file for 0.19.

try
war = 0
for now.

There is a 9% chance for France to refuse to go the historical route in response to the Dienbienphu event, and the event chain leading to war between the Vietminh and France is triggered. Probably that's what happened. And I DO intend to have some hot war prospects in the cold war. But Saudi reaction is not correct IMO. It should be a war between France and Communist China, with the possibility that others will join in.--for 0.19 will stick to just making the Saudi ai modification.

@ others will not do any additional countries' ministers for 0.19 except for UKR, SOV, and some other ones already done.
