Thanks Amallric. I'll mark the three as dead, and add this name to the suspected fake list:
4113 Minister of Security Sergei Rodzyanko 1936 PA Silent Lawyer Very High M4103
4103 Minister of Armament Sergei Rodzyanko 1936 FA Resource Industrialist Medium M4103

All google searches for the name in quotes lead to Paradox. Also Vassily Malyshkin was a Russian Liberation Army general executed by Stalin in 46, but unfortunately the name in the file is Vladimir Malyshkin, and since I cannot find a picture for either I have to consider Vladimir Malyshkin to be a possible fake.

I already added
Pavel Milyukov and about 5 others to the file. If my luck in finding real people continues, I'll just recycle the names for some of the other ministries.

Between have you tried searching the persons in kyrilic letters because sometimes you can only find some russian(or any other kyril using country) persons by searching them that way

Edit: Seems like they took some people and just changed their first name
like here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lev_Galler
or here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakov_Smushkevich
(There are some other cases but those are either long time dead white generals/politicians, purged officers or names too common to identify the real person)

Yes I have tried using the cyrillic letters and only got about one hit. I believe the user that suggested they are taking the names of real people who are dead and substituting fake first names is probably on the money. I'm going on the assumption that the suspected fakes are actually fake. So far I was able to find about 6 politicians and about 12 generals on the generals.dk site. My criteria for the generals is that they are alive during the period (at least till 1970)and not in the Soviet files. With a start date of 1946 that should be sufficient. I don't think there's any need for accepting fakes for such an important country.

What do you have found so far for Russia(ministers)? I could maybe help you to find more if you give me a list of those you already have. With people from the emigration and such.

Look in the eug file for the scenario and look where it says axis = { }, allies = { } and comintern = { }. It's the inc file for the scenario, whatever that scenario is. The alliance leader is the country listed first. For example if you are the UK and you want to try to ally Germany, put someone else as the leader of the alliance, say France.
All the files are in the scenarios subfolder.

EDIT: Decided SL would be a more suitable ideology for some, as they had no history of collaboration with the Germans but would mainly be applicable if the Soviet Union was liberated by democratic forces or dissolved.

In addition Felix Yussopov will be given more possible jobs.
I admit Nabokov is a bit of a stretch--he's the famous author. I found out that his father actually gave his life to save another diplomat from assassination. I expect to also add Alexander Solzhenitsyn somewhere.

Trojan AC, will do C as you suggest but keep open the option of finding additional jobs for the same ministers if needed. The file is about 90% done for the replacement of the "suspect ministers"

In addition, some people from modern Russia start to be plausible from as early as 1960-1975. For right now, though, I'm just interested in the base period 1936-1965 or so. Then I'll add the others. Many can be included in BOTH the Soviet and Russian files. All you have to do is look at Vladimir Putin's history.

In addition, I'm making Boris Yeltsin available starting in 1970 and Yevgeny Primakov available in 59.

Let's go ahead and declare Option A dead. I've discovered a pattern of fakery on a few. A real person who either is dead by 1936 or who has no picture is given a new first name. So I consider the "possible fakes" to be "probable or confirmed fakes". That would preclude their use. EDIT: Here's what I've found so far about the suspect ministers: Some are dead. Some are outright fakes. Some are real people with a mistake in their names. The misspellings will be overwritten with correct spellings and usually keeping the minister number, unless I've decided another position is more suitable.

1980 airborne crash is a known issue that will be fixed in 0.16. For an immediate resolution, delete tech picture 20560 (forces the anonymous picture) The crash is due to a corrupted bmp graphics file.

Re: Russian ministers. The majority of the ones in vanilla were simply dead. A few were alive during the period. A few more match up with similar names. The rest were likely fakes. I found a few more but the list will be basically what's above, plus what I'll add starting in 59. I admit that the choices are somewhat limited for some ministries before 1946 but that's the price of historical accuracy (verifiable ministers with no dead people). The choices are still reasonable for a PA, FA, SC, or ML government before 1946 and any democratic government thereafter. I actually believe there should be a separate file for Imperial Russia, containing the people who would be alive if it were not for the Bolshevik victory in 1917. That file could contain people like Alexander Kolchak. But in my new Russia file he is simply eliminated. The '68 minister trick' no longer works when the game is played past 1967.

How is the Vietnam war going to mapulated as it can be a simple war as if US player gets involved it will be too easy something needs to make it hard for them maybe events high descent bad infrastruer through the regions China support for Commies also USSRS. Also how about the threat of USSR bringing commies into there alliance like all of the south American Revolts that could of lead to a new communist nation. And NATO and it's events have you been thinking about these things. I got a lest of US involvement in South America if you would like it. You might need more infromation but it could help.

Slevin_Kelbra,
You asked a very good question and I have not figured out how to handle the Vietnam War. I will likely treat it as a proxy war between South Vietnam and the NLF, the latter occupying the southernmost Laos province and the two eastern Cambodia provinces. Likely it will be by staged events causing casualties, loss of supplies, etc. The early stages of the Greek Civil War might turn out to be a model, and so might the Indonesian War for independence. Likely the model will be as follows, since I don't really want a 40-province Indochina map, unless this becomes a standard.
1) Initial period 54-59 the states are divided as per the Geneva accords and everything seems all right.
2) 1959 Civil war breaks out in Laos. American intervention, if any, is ineffective and the southernmost Laos province goes over to the Pathet Lao. In game terms I'll probably cede it to Communist China and have them give independence to the NLF--this gives them the guerrilla warfare doctrines which in early testing are truly awesome.
3) The NLF demands territory from Cambodia and gets it. This sets the stage for the war.
4) partisan events pop up in South Vietnam. A few divisions should quell these, but the American public will not accept these troops simply being kept there indefinitely, and will demand either an escalation of the war or a pullout. There should be US choices in that regard. Actually going after the NLF will be a much tougher thing than suppressing partisans, and will probably be a four-way choice
1) pull out
2) keep enough troops to suppress rebellions
3) go after the NLF by bombing (historic choice)
4) full scale invasion (tried abortively by Nixon in the late stages through Cambodian proxies, leading to the Khmer Rouge takeover)
Each choice will have consequences, and there might be a risk of WW3 if the USA either seriously goes after the territory of the NLF or invades N Vietnam.

Also the rebellions should get more serious over time (more militia units per province) eventually requiring more troops.

This may not be the final but represents early thinking. Am fine-tuning the Chinese Civil War, and when this plus the Korean War is debugged should lead to the generation of a 1956 scenario.

Yes I know the general outline of US involvement in Latin America but if you have a list of specifics please feel free to post your list.

Hello,

I've stolen the new Russian ministers from above for a mod of my own ;), so I like to share them with you. Some (five or so) are missing because I found no picture for them and I changed the start dates of some. Just undo that and you'll be fine.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As for the pictures, you can either wait for the next release of my own mod or go to www.generals.dk for the missing pictures. Go ahead and use it--just remember to say who you "stole" it from.

I found some others just through google search--they have a very good search system nowadays, and I believe I found a couple with cyrillic search--if the name is shown in Russian I just pasted that into the search and sometimes came up with hits. Anyway if you cannot find them just wait.
I vote for B
Edit: Seems like they took some people and just changed their first name
like here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lev_Galler

Some of the people would not be suitable for the ordinary Russia file but would be suitable for the UER (Imperial Russia) file. I plan to eventually permit the UER tag in a normal game to answer the question "What if the Bolshevik revolution never occurred?". In this case, some prominent Soviet era figures or certain people who died in the Russian Civil War like Alexander Kolchak would be perfectly acceptable.
