cold war could be an expansion/separate game in of itself. but yes, I understand the need to continue it from the outcome of your hoi4 saved game.
I would basically want a cold war game period, even if we have to start from the historical start.

They may not even bother because mods will probably cover that ground quite extensively. I think PDS will focus on DLC based around mechanics like in EU4 Cossacks and Horselords for ck2. However that being said they have extended timelines in games in the past, so nothing is impossible.
didnt they extend timeline back on CKII twice?

And I think you are correct that this is more of a Mod thing than DLC.
Who knows, they may even get to the point to publish a mod groups game that is about the Cold war

50 % ? 100 % ? more ? less ?
yeah i know, hoi 4 was even relased , why to discuss dlc, right ? well since screenshots it looks that hoi4 will be most friedlier to be expanded to cold war era, eighter by dlc or by mod. some of you can remember game caled cold war, which was using hoi3 engine and it was stand alone game.
So i will love to have at least some partial cold war timeline in game, dost matter if it end in 50s 60s or later, geting up to 80s and end of soviet union will be very hard to make imo.
personaly i willing to pay for this DLC 100%, same amount as for original Hoi 4.

Since East vs West was canceled I'm waiting for something which will continue the idea of some sort of HOI and Cold War scenario. I was so dissapointed when they canceled it.

For me this would be the most interessting DLC possible for HOI IV and I would pay a lot money for it. I really really hope they will extend the timeline with DLCs.

Especially with the new economy system it would be possible to make a race for better and more equippment and technology. I think the potential of HOI IV is huge.

But I also think we will see first some DLC which improve the release timeline of HOI IV. For example more individual stuff for minor nations like equipment, techtrees and so on.
And maybe they will work on the trade system. Factories for ressources makes no sense for me. Also the supply system. Add fuel and ammonition for production.

Personally I would be disappointed if they wouldn't extrend the timeline and miss the opportunity to go for a Cold War scenario. I think it would be possible with HOI IV and since I'm playing HOI I always whised there would be some sort of supported gameplay after WW2. Nobody says the Cold War has to be a cold one. Why build an huge army of Leos or T-72 and don't use it :D?

didnt they extend timeline back on CKII twice?

Yes, but CK is game about Middle Ages so extending it to more Middle Ages can be done just like that.

Hearts of Iron is a game about World War II. It has mechanics dedicated to this conflict that won't work for WWI or Cold War. Take World Tension for example, you can't extend the timeline to include WWI and have it work as expected. Or focuses, great part of them is at least partially related to outcome of WWI, if the game includes WWI, most of them would be out of place.

I'd not pay anything for it as a dlc. Why? Because I think it needs to be its own complete game due to the difference in mechanics that would be needed to represent the era.

I feel that it's coming too. But doubt they'll recycle much from 'That Which Cannot be Mentioned'.

There seems to be a lot of scope for expansion from what we've seen of HoI4. But think the best would be if they dedicated a full game to it.

Well, IMO the Hoi3 WW1 mod worked quite fine. There aren't really that many alternate history possibilities beyond Russia, at least not too many more than for the vanilla game I would think.

well, truth is that here are MANY posibilities, even outside of russia. especialy after WWI ended.
what if west decide to killl "commie beast" in craddle and decide for full intervention until reds are defeated ?
what if reds decide to support more commies revolt in hungary, so they will be ale to resist romanian invasion and crush of thier revolution ?
how much thier resistence create similiar revolts in other countries ? especialy germany.
what if czechs decide to try for peceful solution regarding silesia area instead of short victorius war, which plagued future relationship ? (but make penalties strong enough until dispute is settled, so it make sense to solve it fast, even by limited war)
what if soviet-polish war ended diferently ? like reds conquring warsaw or poles able to keep ukraine ?

and i agree with you, wwI era, and posibility to play in gap 1918-36, and well even 14-18 will be very nice, and i will love to have that dlc.

it depends on what the DLC woud contain. and how much it woud add to the game. i like paradox realy much thay make good games with high qaulity unlike companys like EA so i woud defently consider buying a cold war DLC if it forfill the criterias i mentioned above

Nope, I would never pay for a Cold War DLC for HoI4, but I will pay anything for a new Cold War game by itself.

This game was built to depict WW2 and global scale warfare, stuffing things into it will only make it a huge mess.

Please no Cold War DLC.
