In most of the games that i play coalitions tend to be really fcked up.

To start with the ai never gets coalitined when he is expanding as hell.Here the best examples are blobbing france,ottoblobs,Poland and their atack dog ,Muscovy etc whom should get at least 6-7 nations in a coaltion on how fast they expand over terrain that has nothing to do with their respective freedom of country.

Nations that embargo seems to be getting the full hit of the coalition : Venice and GEnoa got 5 man and 6 man coalitioned and assaulted because they embargoed alot of guys and got raped as less then 10 country provinces and they were forced to spitt everything out.

And lastly,coalitions are forming suuuper fast against the player itself.I can't strugle to mention how many times i got coalition blocked just because i re-conquested some regions,re-conquest!!! As ottomans i got blocked by 4 nations when i recoqnuest candar and karamazan... also turning around to europe to get 2 vassal from srebia and wallachia will make another 5 man coalition there ,making a super huge coaition that will trigger war instnatly and kick your butt for some actions that didn't gvie any AE ,this can go on with muscovy and golden horde aswell.


In general i think the coalition system is broken as hell and should trigger way more often against lucky nations that want to munch europe.

making a super huge coaition that will trigger war instnatly and kick your butt for some actions that didn't gvie any AE ,this can go on with muscovy and golden horde aswell.
Vassalising causes AE.
Look at the culture groups and religion map modes. Work out who will get extra AE and improve relations with them before the war and they wont join the coalition. Much easier to stop people forming a coalition than it is to break it apart.
Or just declare on the coalition as it starts to form to get them into a war. Then wait peace or something so that the coalitions are on separate truce timers and not one big group.

I draw the line at the point where the lucky nations should have the same disatvantages as a real player or close to it,also im talking about it being broken because nations that arent lucky are getting coalitined for no reason,also because i am getting coalitions without trigger ae almost at all.Vassalizing makes small amount of AE reallly small,if vassalazing creates big chunks of coalitions then what if i annexed them?.And not to mention re-conquest should not give any ae but for some reason they decide sometimes to form coalitions just cause.

Making it less buggy for the players would be fair.

This is because, if you're smart, you only have to fight one large coalition war. After that you can individually piece the wars apart so they don't result in a massive hugbox due to the part where nations are forcibly ejected from coalitions during truces.

Honestly one of the better changes of 1.8.

U're missing the big point in the topic,i don't care that i have to fight them and the fact that i lose because i am a bad player at managing huge wars,but because i shouldn't fight them.
I am getting coalitioned over things that should pass on in 1 year without even hurting relations such as capturing same cuture/religion or re-conquest.
I don't need advices on how to get my ass beaten when coalition form,i am not that good and i wont admit otherwise but i don't like the fact that way to often the ai or the system if broken as fk only against me and altough i take my care i get coalitioned instantly.
Might be because they turn from neutral to instantly outraged the next second after i take 1-2 parts of terrain... That's what i don't get .Should it be normal ?,i don't think so.

You definitely should get coalitioned over conquering same culture/religion provinces. Why shouldn't you? Just because Lorraine is Burgundian culture doesn't mean it's lawful territory of Burgundy.

You generally won't get coalitioned over reconquest though. Typically when you get a coalition during reconquest, it's because you're taking lands that reconquest doesn't encompass, so you generate full value AE.

Discussed to death. Coalitions are barely irrelevant now for any player who knows what he is doing. There is reason why so much stuff give Better Relations over time. Use those. And also increase relations all the time with potential dangerous members of coalitions. There, solved.

Versus AI, it is rare but not impossible to form and join coalitions, specially inside the HRE. I did once versus Venice, it was allied with Austria was eating all of north Italy with impunity.

Until eating 100% warscore :)

I only played 1.7.3 and the new 1.8 but it seems coalitions have gotten massively weakened in the latest major patch. If anything I think they need to be strengthen again, so they react better to a uber-aggro player.

Im not saying its a strong system just a broken as fck one,in my opinion it should be also boosted against suuper agro players.BUt atm the system bites you if you do things that aren';t suppose to give you coalition.And usualy after i get that 5 to 1 troops war where i get to relaease 2 nations and give land the coalition never comes back alive i can just start super blobbing and they never form one real coalition.

The system is terrible broken and thats what im trying to say it doesnt form against super agro guys ,but against small like re-conquest and Trade embargo which is retarted.

Again, trouble you run into is 90% times the player´s fault. Ally with neighbours that can be troublesome in the future, the AE gain if a neighbour is allied is negligible, and the same is the case if they are distant.

The last resort is increasing relations as much as you can before the next war. The game isn´t supposed to be about war every bloody year only. The diplomats exist for a reason.
