I'm trying to figure out how this situation happened, as it was a bit of a mood killer.
I started a game as Spain, and almost immediately France asked me into a war with GB since I was part of France's coalition. So I think "OK cool whatever" and I park some of my soldier's butt's on Gibraltar to do my part.
Meanwhile, I have all these yummy dominance targets waiting for me in Portugal, and a bunch of other units just waiting to get into the action, so I declare my own war against Portugal.
I start swarming over their provinces and killing their units. Good times, until I reach a point where I only have one fort on their coast left to take. Out of nowhere, the war shield is gone for Portugal, and the war gets "merged" into the GB/France war. At this point, I can no longer sue for peace with Portugal, since France is the coalition leader. After the last fort falls, France sues for peace with Portugal for a "concede defeat" win, which gives THEM 50 prestige, and me absolutely jack.
Is this WAD? It feels a bit unfun, and I find myself wondering why I would ever want to play a nation in a coalition that I'm not the leader of.
