I knew that would happen but I did it anyway. -144 agrresive expansion in one war. Amazing...

I want to win this punitive war. I am Rev France. Enemies are:

Scandinavia, Russia(massive army), Ottomans(even better than mother russia), Austria(strong army), Prussia(not very strong), Papal State, Portugal,England(giant empire) ,Bavaria,Tunis,Venice,Bremen,Hamburg,Brazil,Mexico,Saxony,Commonwealth.

I have massive manpower and force limit but this is too much. I dont want to lose because year is 1803 and I want to finish the game without losing.

We don't always get what we want.

Try to bleed them I guess and don't venture to far from your territory. Try to get their war exhaustion up so rebels break out.

Or unconditionally surrender and blitz a new war asap after.

Coalition wars are show strength, which means you can get up to 65 WS (40 from battles, 25 from ticking) just by smacking their armies around. Do so. Keep your stacks together, make sure your comps are good (full back row of cannon), attack them while they're trying to siege your forts (preferably in in the mountains) or are otherwise split up. Don't be afraid to merc like mad, take /all/ the loans, mash debase currency till your fingers bleed, etc.

If you can get over 50% warscore, I think they lose the -50 from coalition war, meaning you should be able to peace them out.

I remember the first (and only) time I was on the receiving end of a major punitive war. I was also playing as France but it was early game - I had 100 WS on Burgundy and the inheritance fired. Clever me I realised that I could peace them out before accepting the BI and thus deny Austria the bulk of its portion. So I did. So clever was I that I neglected to consider the AE implications - turned out they were significant.

Very quickly a pan-European war broke out. Me, Castile, and Poland versus basically everyone. The bulk of the German forces went straight for Poland (I guess it's in their DNA to do that). So I rushed to take down as many of the HRE forts on my border to try to keep the warscore relatively even which I did. I was actually at about +10. England sent the odd trickle of free warscore across the channel. Then Poland had had enough and they peace out, losing a few provinces - but now the warscore is about +45 in my favour. We keep pushing, take some advantageous engagements, and before long the WS is about +75 in my favour. Without the -50 reasons for peace I am able to get great terms - including annexation of Calais and a bunch of other stuff to ensure a long truce. I spend the next 11 years furiously improving relations with everyone significant and the coalition doesn't quite manage to reform.

Winning one of these wars and sticking it to the coalition by taking EVEN MORE LAND is actually a really good feeling.

If your army quality is good enough you can probably just hold out and stackwipe them essentially indefinitely, and depending on who the warleader is eventually siege down their cap and get out of the war that way. Without screenshots/more details it seems pretty difficult to tell if its possible or not though.

Can you pay off a coalition war? I assumed the war leader would have the "wants concessions other than gold" modifier.

Keep your stacks together with full arty, and hang back behind strong fort lines. AI likes to spread out and has a hard time with high lvl forts....hit their armies furthest away from reinforcing each other, and route with your entire army nearby one at a time. Dont send in more troops than you need at once to avoid attrition. Stay on the defensive, and farm their armies for warscore. Your entire army in one spot vs individual segments of their force should lead to repeated victories

If the coalition hasnt attacked you yet, send them a DOW instead on their most vulnerable member. Spain sounds decent, they have lots of provinces on the mainland to occupy. They might not have many troops in spain proper, AI colonizers have been having trouble with this lately.

Congratulations on the only scenario where coalitions actually make sense. Artificial blob prevention that does nothing for small nations if there are no nearby big & same religion nations.

With 100WS of ducats, yes. Once you get to 100WS offered, the want's concessions other than gold modifier goes away.

If you were able to win that war, it would defeat the purpose of coalitions. This is an example of problems being easier to prevent then resolve. In future, keep some wars on the go pretty much all the time, so that you always have some peace treaties. People can't join a coalition against you if there is a treaty. Also, it seems as if there can only be one coalition against you at a time, so the moment it forms, go to war with it, before it has 20 members.

If you were able to win that war, it would defeat the purpose of coalitions.

No, coalitions wars are difficult to win and less fruitful than other types of wars, but it certainly possible to win them, even when they declare on you. Many players have won them, even when on defense using proper coalition war rules.

OP post is missing details like his own FL, how many troops he can afford (likely a ton if revolutionary), what the fronts look like, idea group choices and more. All that said, a revolutionary modifier slapped on top of NIs with 20% morale and 5% discipline can get devastating troops easily. Not a single one of the nations in question can hold up to full combat width fights 1:1, so the name of that game would be achieving superiority for ticking war score, hitting 40% from battles, and grabbing a fort if the intention is to take land (50% WS or more removes coalition war modifier even in defensive wars).

I can't imagine rev France with 2 military groups taken losing to AI under normal circumstances. I can see how coalitions could gum up a WC attempt by making the WS/truces problematic and winning a war take forever, but at high prestige/AT we're talking nearly +100% morale with discipline to back it. How is the AI beating that?
